Postal service ceased work on computer system for Trump's election security measure, official says
Following a Supreme Court ruling shooting down Trump's executive order seeking to limit mail-in voting to eligible voters, Postmaster General David Steiner said work to develop a system to implement the order has stopped.

The postmaster general said Thursday that the U.S. Postal Service has stopped developing a computer system that's key to President Donald Trump's effort to provide greater election security, following a Supreme Court ruling shooting down his executive order.
Postmaster General David Steiner told the Associated Press that, with the injunction in place, the USPS isn't "doing anything."
Steiner has spent most of the past year navigating the political and financial challenges of running the nation's postal service, and Trump's efforts to restrict mail-in voting to eligible voters has placed Steiner in the position of having to implement a system to carry out the president's executive order.
While Trump responded to the high court's ruling with scathing criticism, Steiner wouldn't offer his perspective on the decision. He also took a neutral position on Trump's executive order itself, asserting the independence of the agency and limiting its influence to operational concerns.
