FBI Seizes DDoS-for-Hire Domains as Part of Continuing District of Alaska Crackdown on ‘Booter’ and ‘Stresser’ DDoS Services

-The FBI seized domains connected to the NightmareStresser DDoS for hire service.
-The service was used for hundreds of thousands of actual or attempted DDoS attacks worldwide since 2022.
-DDoS attacks can disrupt internet connections and online services.
-Victims can include schools, government agencies, gaming platforms, and other people or organizations.
-The FBI Anchorage Field Office worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
-The action is part of Operation PowerOFF, an international effort against DDoS for hire services.
-Earlier cases in Anchorage and Los Angeles led to charges against twelve defendants and the seizure of more than 100 related domains.
-Adam Alexander and Ainsley McNerney are prosecuting the case for the District of Alaska.
