Humanity's adversary lies in the negative space created by a discrepancy between the world which people expect, and the world which actually exists. While this enemy possesses no actual substance, it still has a very real and measurable influence upon the world when people make choices based upon flawed premises.
The actual truth of what the world is and how it works is something beyond anyone's understanding, and yet we still must make decisions. If one is earnestly driven by the desire to engage with the world as it really is, things often have a funny way of working out. If, however, one deliberately obscures truth and acts in defiance of reality, whether they think it will profit them, or if they might believe it is in service to some greater good, they are walking down a dangerous path.
