Dutch National Police arrest member of group that claimed to have hacked FBI

Sarah N. Lynch Updated on: September 29, 2026 / CBS News

The FBI and the Dutch National Police said Tuesday that they had arrested suspected member of the notorious cyber group ShinyHunters, the group that claimed responsibility for last week's defacing the FBI's jobs website and bragged that it had stolen data about FBI personnel and job applicants.

The Dutch National Police said Tuesday that the suspect is a 24-year-old from Amsterdam, and was arrested on September 15 on suspicion of being a member of ShinyHunters. That means he was already in custody days before ShinyHunters announced it had hacked the FBI jobs website, which was first reported on Sept. 22 by 404 Media.

He is also suspected of attempting incitement to commit two murders, Dutch authorities said.

The Dutch authorities said they had seized several data carriers and further arrests in the case could not be ruled out. They said a large amount of information was discovered on his laptop, including the details about the two murders that were supposed to be committed abroad. The suspect is being held in insolation, and he is expected to be held in pre-trial detention for at least 90 days, Dutch authorities said.

FBI Cyber Division Assistant Director Brett Leatherman said Tuesday that Dutch authorities had the "full support" of the FBI.

"Since last year, this cybercriminal and his co-conspirators have allegedly breached more than 140 organizations and taken at least $70 million in extortion payments," Leatherman said. "They often target third-party vendors and cloud-based platforms, stealing sensitive data and extorting victims with threats to publishing."

In a post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel did not identify the individual who was arrested, but referred to the person as "one of the alleged leaders" of the organization. "As we speak FBI teams are actively working with partners to obtain and execute more leads in the ongoing investigation based on this arrest," Patel wrote.

The FBI said in a statement that it is "working around the clock to investigate the cyber incident involving FBIJobs.gov and is in regular communication with anyone who may be impacted— including multiple Bureau wide communications within 24 hours of public reporting." The FBI also said that the investigation is ongoing.

Last week, ShinyHunters claimed in communications posted on the dark web and exchanges with multiple media outlets that it stole two to three terabytes of data related to FBI and Justice Department workers. The hackers said they used a new vulnerability in Oracle PeopleSoft, a human resources management program.

In one such post last Tuesday, ShinyHunters addressed Patel and Leatherman, saying: "We have compromised the FBI."

The cybercriminals said they possessed sensitive information concerning nearly all FBI agents, as well as people who applied for FBI jobs. It listed criminal justice, human resources and Medlink systems among the services that were affected.

On Monday, The New York Times reported that FBI employees had received an internal email that declared the hack to be a cybersecurity incident and acknowledged that personal information of some employees had been stolen.

That internal security notice sent to employees at the FBI recently confirmed that hackers did obtain employee information, a sample of which was shared with some select members of the media, according to a source with knowledge about the internal communication.

The FBI told employees that multiple divisions are now investigating the breach and coordinating support for those who were impacted.

Employees were also advised to take heightened security precautions and that they should report suspicious contacts, harassment or any threats they may receive.

The internal communication also told employees that the bureau is evaluating additional identity protection and related support services for affected employees and their families.

An FBI spokesperson declined to comment on the notice's contents, but said that the bureau has been in constant communication with its employeessince the incident took place, and added that the FBI has been providing notifications and updates as more information became available.

Jack Smith Eviscerates Trump in Opening Statement: ‘President Trump Engaged in Serious Crimes Against Our Nation’

Tom Durante Sep 29th, 2026, 10:27 am

Former Special Counsel Jack Smith slammed President Donald Trump in his opening statement before a Senate panel on Tuesday, saying his investigation uncovered “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” that the commander in chief “engaged in serious crimes against our nation.”

Smith, who was tasked with investigating Trump in 2022, spoke out as he faced lawmakers from the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“I stand by my decisions as special counsel, including my decision to bring charges against President Trump,” Smith said in his opening statement. “I made those decisions without regard to President Trump’s political association, activities, beliefs, or candidacy in the 2024 presidential election.”

He went on:

Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in serious crimes against our nation. If asked whether to prosecute a former president today based on the same facts, I would do so regardless of whether that president was a Republican or a Democrat. The charges against President Trump were the result of the evidence. Grand juries in two separate districts reached this conclusion based on his actions as alleged in the indictments they returned. Rather than accept his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, President Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results and prevent the lawful transfer of power.

And the crimes didn’t stop there, according to Smith.

“After leaving office in January of 2021, President Trump illegally kept classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago social club and repeatedly tried to obstruct justice to conceal his continued retention of those documents,” he said.

Smith added that Trump kept “highly sensitive national security information” in a bathroom and ballroom in an event space.

But Smith’s evidence-gathering has been a topic of controversy among Republicans, who have fumed about investigators accessing text messages from members of Congress and Trump’s inner circle as part of his investigation.

“This is a blatant abuse of power, and exactly what our Founders warned about,” Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) said in July.

Trump himself threatened to slap Smith with a criminal indictment in a January Truth Social rant.

Smith said he’s well aware of those threats, but he remains “confident that the rule of law will endure because so many continue to uphold it faithfully.”

He concluded, “Thank you for the opportunity to testify today. I look forward to your questions.”

Governor Abbott Waives Dyed-Diesel Restrictions

September 28, 2026 | Austin, Texas | Press Release

Governor Greg Abbott today issued a statewide disaster proclamation to allow expanded use of dyed diesel on Texas roads. The proclamation also raises the allowable weight for fuel, agricultural, and timber loads, and suspends Texas Low Emission Diesel (TxLED) rules to the extent the EPA authorizes. The Governor also requested that the EPA waive federal ultra-low sulfur diesel requirements.

“Texas agriculture and freight run on diesel,” said Governor Abbott. “Record prices put both industries at risk and raise costs for every Texas family. Farmers and truckers can now use dyed diesel on Texas roads, and fuel, crop, and timber loads can move at a higher weight. These steps cut costs on the farm, on the road, and at the store."

Dyed diesel is off-road fuel marked red, typically used in agricultural operations, and sold without a motor-fuels tax. Because it is untaxed, state law ordinarily bars its use on public roadways. The Governor’s proclamation suspends state restrictions and associated penalties so operators can use such fuel on Texas roads. It does not waive the underlying fuel tax.

The proclamation also suspends state oversize and overweight permitting requirements for vehicles loaded with fuel, agricultural, or timber products and allows those loads at a gross weight of up to 95,000 pounds.

Governor Abbott asked EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for a temporary Clean Air Act waiver of federal ultra-low sulfur diesel rules and the TxLED rules that apply in 110 Texas counties. Those standards limit which diesel can be sold, and a waiver would allow more fuel to reach Texas pumps.

Oops! Adam Schiff Accidentally Shows Image of Murder of Trump Supporter Roseanne Boyland by Cops on Steps of US Capitol During Jack Smith Hearing

by Jim Hoft Sep. 29, 2026 3:30 pm

Pencil-neck Adam Schiff has never been accused of being a political genius, and he never will be.

On Tuesday, during former DOJ hitman Jack Smith’s testimony before the US Senate, California Senator Adam Schiff accidentally showed an image of the murder of Trump supporter Rosanne Boyland at the hands of police on the steps of the US Capitol on January 6.

Rosanne was the second woman murdered that day by police. The fake legacy news has never investigated her story.

But we have!

Rosanne Boyland was standing at the US Capitol when she was pushed down the steps by police. The police did not stop there, though. They then piled dozens of people on top of her.

Then Officer Lila Morris is seen beating Rosanne’s lifeless body on the steps to the US Capitol.

That is when protester Jake Lang dragged Rosanne away from the mush pile, and Trump supporters attempted to perform CPR.

The Trump supporters spent several minutes attempting to resuscitate Rosanne.

The Gateway Pundit posted exclusive footage of this horrible tragedy that the media to this day has refused to air

On Tuesday, Tommy Tatum posted this photo on his X page.

Tommy Tatum knows what he is talking about. Tommy was lying on the ground next to Rosanne as she was dying. He lives today to talk about it.

This was an American tragedy that the left hopes you will forget.

We will continue to speak out on this, hoping that one day there will be justice for Rosanne.

Fox News just handed a contributor contract and a co-host chair on a brand-new podcast to the woman who sat at Andrew Cuomo’s right hand while New York shoved COVID-positive patients into nursing homes and then hid the body count. 1/2

According to a Fox News Media press release, Melissa DeRosa is now a “newly named FOX News contributor.” She will appear on the premiere of the network’s new all-female roundtable podcast, the Girls, which debuts October 1.

The first episode features Rachel Campos-Duffy, Harris Faulkner, Kat Timpf, former ESPN host Samantha Ponder, and DeRosa.

Fox’s own announcement describes her as a “veteran democratic strategist” who “previously held several senior roles in former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration, becoming the first woman to serve as secretary to the governor.”That is a very polite way of saying she was Cuomo’s gatekeeper during the deadliest nursing-home policy in America.

In February 2021, The Gateway Pundit reported the leak that blew the cover off the operation. In a piece titled“BOMBSHELL: Top NY Official Admits Cuomo Hid Nursing Home Data So Feds Wouldn’t Find Out,”we detailed DeRosa’s remarks on a private conference call with New York Democratic lawmakers.

According to the New York Post, which first published the audio, DeRosa apologized to those Democrats for withholding the state’s nursing-home death tally. She said the administration “froze” after then-President Donald Trump “turns this into a giant political football.”

Her words, as reported by the Post:

“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes. He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

Then came the part that should have ended her media career:

“And basically, we froze. Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.”

That is not a “reporting lag.” That is a senior state official admitting, on tape, that the Cuomo shop sat on the death numbers because they were afraid the Trump Justice Department would use the truth against them.

The policy that produced those deaths was Cuomo’s March 25, 2020 directive: nursing homes could not refuse COVID-positive hospital patients and could not require a test before taking them back. The most vulnerable New Yorkers were used as overflow beds. Thousands never left.

New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, later found the state’s published nursing-home death total had been undercounted by as much as 50 percent.

Officials knew the real toll among nursing-home residents was in the neighborhood of 10,000 while the government report claimed about 6,500.

A 2021 New York State Assembly report alleged Cuomo personally edited Department of Health figures to knock thousands off the public count.

Subsequent congressional work found DeRosa and other top aides were in the room when that Health Department report was rewritten to protect the administration.

The Gateway Pundit has covered this massacre from the beginning, from the March 2020 order, to the missing hospital deaths the state refused to count as nursing-home fatalities, to the donor and lobbying web around the industry, to the lawsuits filed by families who lost parents and veterans.

DeRosa resigned in August 2021 as Cuomo’s administration collapsed under a New York attorney general investigation that concluded the governor sexually harassed multiple women, including government employees. The same report placed DeRosa at the center of the office’s response to accusers.

She was mentioned hundreds of times in that document. Cuomo resigned days later.DeRosa walked away calling the job “the greatest honor of my life.”

2/2

Now Fox News is putting her on a show billed as “no-holds-barred,” “refreshing candor,” and “nothing is off the table.”

If nothing is off the table, someone on that first episode might ask the new contributor why New York hid the nursing-home death toll from lawmakers and the feds. They might ask why the official count was thousands short. They might ask the families who buried mothers and fathers in 2020 whether “the Girls” is the right rebrand for the woman who said her shop “froze” when the numbers got dangerous.

Fox News Media President of Digital and New Media Porter Berry called the podcast “a natural addition to our growing podcast portfolio,” according to the network’s press release.

Megan Albano, executive vice president of morning programming, promised “the authenticity and perspectives of the many dynamic women of FOX News Media and beyond.”

DeRosa’s perspective is already on the record. She said they froze. The elderly in those buildings did not get that option.

‘Don’t Call it a Web!’ Bill Gates Gets Testy as NYT’s Ezra Klein Presses Him on Epstein Relationship

Kathryn Wilkens

Sep 29th, 2026, 3:54 pm

Microsoft founder Bill Gates grew defensive with The New York Times‘ Ezra Klein as he faced questions about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, at one point pushing back, “Don’t call it a web!”

Gates joined Tuesday’s edition of The Ezra Klein Show, where the host noted that in preparing for this interview, he fielded “skepticism” about the tech leader’s ties to Epstein.

Gates first met Epstein in 2011, three years after the financier pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor, and continued interacting with him until 2014. Earlier this year, Gates acknowledged having extramarital affairs with two Russian women during his marriage. The admission came after the release of a 2013 email in which Epstein alleged Gates had contracted a sexually transmitted disease after having sex with “Russian girls” — a claim Gates has denied as “completely false.”

“What do you say to people who have lost some faith in you?” Klein asked.

“They should read what I said to Congress,” Gates responded. “I, in trying to raise money for global health, thought that Epstein could connect me [to billionaires] because of his relationship with them.”

“You’re the billionaire,” Klein clapped back. (According to Forbes, Gates is worth $114.4 billion.) “You felt that he had connections that would be of value to you?”

“To raise money for global health, yes,” the Microsoft founder insisted. “Did you read [my testimony]?”

“I did,” the host confirmed. “The hole at the center of that story for me is how this guy was so compelling to so many very smart, very wealthy people…What was the kind of factor about him that allowed him to weave this web that you and so many other people were in?”

“Well, I wasn’t in a web,” Gates pushed back. “I was in discussions about raising money for global health. I didn’t go to any island or meet any women. Don’t call it a web!”
