Trump, Lutnick to announce major US energy investments
President Trump is expected to announce a major boost for a long-planned natural gas pipeline in Alaska in remarks on Wednesday.
South Korea will commit $54 billion toward the Alaska LNG project as part of a broader $200 billion investment in U.S. energy projects, according to a White House official.
The Alaska LNG project is an 807-mile pipeline that would carry natural gas from Alaska’s North Slope to the southern part of the state for export to Asian markets. The project has faced years of questions over its cost and commercial viability.
As part of a broader commitment from Seoul made during trade negotiations last year, the project will also include eight large-scale nuclear power plants and a 6-gigawatt power generation facility in Texas.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Energy Secretary Chris Wright are expected to join Trump, along with Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R), Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska).
The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

The federal election complaint surrounding Alaska US Senate candidateDaniel J. Sullivan (Decoy Dan)may be only the tip of the iceberg — a small, visible controversy peeking above a much larger network of political consultants, nonprofit organizations and national funding operations working to shape Alaska politics.
Decoy Dan, the retired Petersburg teacher who shares nearly the same name asincumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivanfinished third in Alaska’s primary with about 2.5% of the vote. That is enough under the bizarre ranked-choice voting system that Alaska has to place him on the final-four ballot for November. He is staying in the race, placing two Dan Sullivans on Alaska’s general election ballot.
Amber Lee, a political consultant who helped Decoy Dan J. Sullivan establish his campaign while she was also serving as a director and secretary of the 907 Initiative, an Anchorage-based 501(c)(4) organization that has spent heavily on advertising critical of the incumbent senator.
Americans for Public Trust filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday alleging that the overlapping roles resulted in illegal coordination between the candidate and 907 Initiative. The complaint argues that some of the organization’s expenditures should therefore be treated as prohibited, excessive and unreported contributions to the candidate.

‘Decoy Dan’ Sullivan illegally colluded with liberal group attacking Alaska GOP Sen. Sullivan, watchdog alleges
WASHINGTON — Retired teacher Dan J. Sullivan, also known as “Decoy Dan,” has been accused by a watchdog of secretly and illegally colluding with a liberal group to take down his namesake Alaska senator.
The connection comes from veteran Democratic strategist Amber Lee, who worked with his campaign while sitting on the board of the left-leaning 907 Initiative, a government transparency watchdog that has spent some $1.5 million on ads attacking incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan (R-Alaska), disclosures show.
“It is absolutely a violation of federal election law for someone to wear two hats,” Caitlin Sutherland, the executive director of watchdog group Americans for Public Trust, which filed the complaint Tuesday, told The Post.
“You can’t both work for the campaign and work for the outside group that’s running millions of dollars in advertisements that’s benefiting the campaign that you’re working for.”
About $575,000 of 907 Initiative’s spending against Sen. Sullivan took place during the final 90 days of the primary race, APT alleged in a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission Tuesday. “Decoy Dan” jumped into the race on May 29.
