Twelve people, most of whom are students, have been injured in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Bryansk Region, acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk has said.
The UAV incursion targeted the city of Trubchevsk, sitting on the Desna River in the southern part of the region, not far from the border with Ukraine, Kovalchuk wrote in a post on social media on Wednesday.
“Horrific attack on civilians in Trubchevsk; there are children among the wounded,” he said.
At least seven of those injured were students, with one of the victims being in serious condition, according to the acting governor.
On Monday, Ukrainian drone strikes damaged a railway bridge and tracks at three locations in Bryansk Region, causing several trains to derail.
Part of a bridge collapsed on the Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo rail section, sending ten cars off the tracks, according to Kovalchuk.
A separate strike in Unecha District derailed another 18 empty freight cars, A third attack damaged tracks in Navlya District, but did not disrupt train traffic or cause injuries.
Moscow has accused Kiev of deliberately targeting civilians with long-range drones in an attempt to compensate for setbacks on the battlefield, where Russian forces have continued to advance.
One of the deadliest such strikes came in May when several waves of Ukrainian UAVs hit a student dormitory in the Donbass city of Starobelsk, killing 21 people, mostly young women.
Russia has responded to Kiev’s terrorist attacks by intensifying its long-range missile and drone campaign against Ukraine’s military-industrial facilities and logistics infrastructure.
The Defense Ministry in Moscow maintains that it does not target civilians and that its strikes are directed solely at military targets and infrastructure supporting Kiev’s forces.

Russia strikes Ukrainian pylon with steel-cutting drone for 1st time, as power outages hit 3 regions

Russia has for the first time used a jet-powered drone equipped with a warhead designed to destroy high-voltage power pylons and steel bridge structures, presidential adviser Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov said on Sept. 30.
The development comes as Moscow renews its large-scale campaign against Ukraine's energy system ahead of winter, launching its heaviest combined attack on energy infrastructure in months overnight on Sept. 30.
"Bad news. Today, the enemy for the first time used a special shaped-charge cutting warhead on a jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)," Beskrestnov, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky on defense technologies, wrote on Telegram.
According to Beskrestnov, the warhead was developed specifically to destroy high-voltage pylons and steel bridge structures. It consists of a 40-kilogram main charge and four additional destructive modules.
"I think the enemy plans to attack important high-voltage power transmission lines," he said.
Russia's overnight assault involved nearly 190 attack drones as well as ballistic missiles, Zelensky said. Energy infrastructure in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast was the primary target, while critical infrastructure was also struck in several other regions.
Ukraine's Air Force said that between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 254 of 285 drones. Russian forces launched 174 jet-powered drones, 146 of which were intercepted by Ukrainian forces.
As of around 6:30 p.m., 10 drones remained in Ukrainian airspace, the Air Force said.
By the evening, emergency power outages had been introduced in the capital and surrounding region as well as in Chernihiv and Zhytomyr oblasts following repeated Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, according to the Energy Ministry.
Earlier in the morning, the ministry said some consumers in Kyiv and five oblasts had been left without electricity due to Russian strikes, although no nationwide restrictions were initially expected during the day.
The Sept. 30 attack marked a sharp escalation in Russia's renewed campaign against Ukraine's power system. "Since the summer, there has been practically no day when the enemy has not attacked energy infrastructure.
But such a massive and combined attack has occurred for the first time since the end of the last heating season," Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said following the attack.
Ukraine's electricity system was already under strain before the renewed fall attacks. During the summer, increased demand put additional pressure on the grid during hot weather, while Russian attacks periodically caused temporary outages in different regions.
Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned national power grid operator, repeatedly urged consumers to reduce electricity use during peak hours.
Last winter, repeated Russian strikes severely damaged power and heating infrastructure across Ukraine, leaving thousands of homes without heat and power for prolonged periods during freezing temperatures.
Officials have warned that the upcoming winter could be even harsher than the last one. Ukraine has yet to secure funding for its 5.4 billion euro ($6.2 billion) energy resilience plan, according to previous reporting.
The renewed attacks are also coinciding with the first cold spell of the season. Ukraine's State Emergency Service warned that overnight temperatures could fall to between 0 and 3 degrees Celsius (32-37 Fahrenheit) across Ukraine from Oct. 1-3.

Israeli strikes kill seven people in Gaza, Hamas Health Ministry claims
Israeli strikes killed at least seven Palestinians in two separate attacks in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Hamas Health Ministry officials said.
In Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike on an apartment reportedly killed one woman, wounded her husband and several others, medics said.
Hamas Health Ministry officials said another IDF airstrike on a vehicle killed at least four people and wounded 14 others in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, in Gaza City, while a strike near a mosque in Khan Younis, south of the enclave, killed a local journalist, Mohammad Al-Najar, and wounded others.
Later on Wednesday, an Israeli airstrike killed one person near Qarara town, in the southern Gaza Strip, medics said, taking the day's death toll to at least seven.

Trump aide says White House still pushing for Iran deal, believes end of war is near - interview
In an interview with the Post, Trump aide Sebastian Gorka said that the president will not dilute his demands in any version of a potential Iran deal.
A deal between the United States and Iran remains possible, and the Trump administration believes it can resolve the confrontation imminently, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, the White House deputy assistant to the president and senior director for counterterrorism, told The Jerusalem Post in an interview that will run in full on Friday.

Netanyahu confirms that flydubai pilot conducted stabbing, commends passengers' heroism
"The pilot has been arrested and is currently being questioned by the Saudi authorities," Netanyahu said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement to the public on Wednesday afternoon following the suspected hijacking incident involving a flydubai plane meant to land in Tel Aviv earlier in the day, confirming that one of the pilots had carried out a stabbing attack.
"All passengers are out of danger," Netanyahu said. "The pilot who stabbed them has been arrested and is currently being questioned by the Saudi authorities. We are in close contact with the relevant authorities to ensure the continued safety of the passengers and their safe return to Israel."
The prime minister also explained that one of the Israeli passengers broke into the cockpit along with a crewmember and managed to neutralize the threat of the attacking pilot while another crewmember stabilized the plane.

Regev orders flydubai flights to Israel halted over hijacking pilot's Omani background, sources say
Flydubai’s agreement to operate in Israel explicitly states that all pilots must be from countries that have normalized relations with Israel, which does not include Oman.
Transportation Minister Miri Regev on Wednesday has requested that the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) halt all flights by the airline flydubai entering and exiting the country following the suspected attempted hijacking of a commercial passenger aircraft flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv, a source in the ministry confirmed to The Jerusalem Post.
According to the source, Regev’s decision was made after unverified reports indicating that the co-pilot suspected of hijacking the plane may have been of Omani origin. Israeli sources later corroborated to the Post that the suspected hijacker is believed to be of Omani nationality, according to initial investigations.

WATCH: Rescue flight arrives in Israel with all passengers from earlier flydubai hijacking attempt
The Mossad and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) approved the flydubai rescue flight's crew earlier on Wednesday.
A rescue flight carrying passengers from flydubai flight FZ1073 landed at Ben-Gurion Airport on Wednesday after taking off from Saudi Arabia's Tabuk Airport, with the Saudi airport saying that all passengers from the original flight involved in an earlier hijacking attempt had boarded the rescue flight.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to arrive at Ben-Gurion Airport to welcome the passengers, with a Magen David Adom spokesperson noting that its teams are on standby alongside airport medical teams, ready to conduct medical screenings of the arriving passengers and provide care if needed.

PIJ Deputy Secretary General Mohammed al-Hindi claimed the terrorist organization would support “a unified national list” made up of independent figures rather than members of the groups.
Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the exiled leader of Fatah’s Democratic Reform Current, Mohammed Dahlan, have formed an electoral alliance to run in the Palestinian Legislative Council elections in November, PIJ Deputy Secretary General Mohammed al-Hindi confirmed to the Associated Press.

Bahrain joins CENTCOM multinational drone unit

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said Bahrain has committed to joining Task Force Falcon Strike.
"We're excited to welcome Bahrain to Task Force Falcon Strike after the kingdom affirmed its commitment to join CENTCOM in building the world's first multinational attack drone unit," CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said.
He called Bahrain "a steadfast partner in strengthening regional security and stability."
Falcon Strike builds on Task Force Scorpion Strike, which CENTCOM described on X as its "first dedicated one-way attack drone squadron in the Middle East."
Earlier, Cooper said the new unit would "expand on Scorpion Strike's success" and "scale drone capabilities" across the region as more partners join.

Months after the lights disappeared, a Cody resident says the unexplained objects have returned above Cedar Mountain
A Wyoming resident says mystery orbs over Cody returned in late September after disappearing for several months.
Jezriah Krubeck reported seeing glowing lights above Cedar Mountain, west of Cody, where he previously watched nearly two dozen lights from his porch between November and February.
The news came after Krubeck said the lights rose over the mountain, moved along the ridge and sometimes appeared to approach one another. He described them as 'just like orbs floating up over the mountain.'
'They would float up and move toward each other,' Krubeck said.
The available reporting does not establish what the lights were.
Their reported movements and possible explanations remain based largely on witness accounts and video footage.
Mystery Orbs Over Cody Appeared to Change Direction
Krubeck said he initially looked for conventional explanations rather than assuming the lights were unidentified craft. He said stars, meteors and other natural events did not appear to explain what he saw.
He also said satellite trackers he checked did not appear to match the lights. 'They would interact with each other,' Krubeck said. 'I don't think it was a naturally occurring phenomenon in the way that they moved.'
Krubeck said some lights appeared to stop or change direction. He also claimed they sometimes appeared to stop after he pointed a small laser towards them. His account does not establish that the laser caused any response.
The report does not establish that Krubeck aimed the laser at an aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration warns that intentionally aiming a laser at an aircraft is illegal and poses a serious safety risk.
Krubeck also said he could not see the flashing lights he associated with conventional aircraft. He reported that ordinary aircraft were sometimes visible nearby while the lights were present and said their numbers appeared to increase during some sightings.

A second witness, Casey Edwards, reported seeing lights near Medicine Wheel in the Bighorn Mountains on 23 September. Edwards, a gold miner and tattoo artist, said one light moved before appearing to stop.
'It almost, like, followed me down the road,' Edwards said. He later counted five or six lights near his camp.
Edwards initially considered drones used by ranchers or hunters. He said the lights remained visible for about two-and-a-half to three hours, longer than he expected from small drones.
After reviewing enhanced footage, Edwards remained uncertain about what he had recorded. 'I just want to know what the hell it is,' he said.
MUFON Director Says One Cody Video Remains Unexplained
Richard Beckwith, the Mutual UFO Network's Wyoming state director, reviewed videos recorded by Krubeck and Edwards.
Beckwith said Edwards' footage showed no unusual movement beyond camera shake. He suggested a distant aircraft as one possible explanation but said he lacked enough information to identify the light conclusively.
Krubeck's footage left Beckwith less certain. 'It clearly depicts several disparate objects, all glowing white orbs, moving in different directions,' Beckwith said.
Beckwith said he thought conventional aircraft were unlikely because he could not see navigation beacons in the footage. That remained his interpretation of the video rather than an official determination of what the objects were.
He also said he was inclined to discount commercial drones because of the lighting he observed.
Beckwith separately discounted balloons and Chinese lanterns based on the objects' apparent movement. 'Right now, I have no explanation for the objects recorded in the video,' Beckwith said.
He also addressed speculation that conventional aircraft seen nearby might have been pursuing the lights, but cautioned against drawing that conclusion. 'But again, that is just speculation,' he said.
Mystery Orbs Join Hundreds of Wyoming UFO Reports
The National UFO Reporting Center maintains a public database containing hundreds of submissions from Wyoming. The records are witness reports and do not independently establish the cause of any sighting.
Wyoming officials have also discussed separate reports of drone-like objects in Sweetwater County. Then-Sweetwater County Sheriff John Grossnickle previously took US Rep.
Harriet Hageman to observe reported objects near the Red Desert and Jim Bridger Power Plant.
Grossnickle retired on 31 May 2026. Rich Fischer was appointed interim Sweetwater County sheriff the following month.
Jason Mower, the sheriff's office public affairs director, previously described the recurring reports as increasingly routine. 'It's like the new normal,' Mower said.
The Cody sightings have also prompted discussion online. Some Reddit users suggested Starlink satellite flares as one possible explanation, while others called for precise timing and daytime comparison footage.
Those suggestions remain unverified and do not establish what Krubeck recorded.

For decades, residents of Norway’s Hessdalen valley have reported strange lights that seem to appear without warning and behave unlike ordinary lights.
The mystery behind the unexplained lights
In the 1980s, residents of Hessdalen, which is a small valley in central Norway, started seeing strange and unexplained lights at many spots around the valley.
The phenomenon was so strange that no one could explain it. To study them up close, Project Hessdalen was launched in 1983.
Even now, researchers are still trying to understand what they are.
Here's a look at the project and what scientists say about the eerie lights of Norway’s Hessdalen valley.
It started long before the 1980s
Residents of Hessdalen grew alarmed after they saw odd lights (called the Hessdalen Lights) appear at many spots around the valley in 1981.
At that time, hundreds of such lights were observed, and at peak, people filed about 20 reports a week.
According to Erling Strand, who’s the co-founder and longtime manager of Project Hessdalen, these lights were visible even before that.
Strand noted in an interview with History, "Actually, it's not correct to say [it] started [in the 1980s] because we have found in 1900, five stories, in 1800, a couple of stories."
He added that local history writing mentions something even before 1800.
Erling Strand also saw the lights firsthand
Strand first visited the valley in September 1982.
Remembering his first sighting, he added, “And I was standing out in the mountain together with some friends, and we saw this huge light in the mountain side, and then I knew there was a real phenomenon."
Soon after, he laid the foundation of Project Hessdalen in the summer of 1983.
Hessdalen lights don’t behave like ordinary lights
Strand noted that there were different types of light. "Some lights, you see a big flash, and then it's gone," he added. The others are balls of light that can hold still for minutes, and then they drift slowly or move very fast. These lights do not make any sound.
In early 1984, the project ran a field investigation with radar, cameras, a seismograph (which records ground vibrations), a Geiger counter (which detects radiation), and other instruments.
Team members made 53 light observations, and the effort showed for the first time that the phenomenon can be measured. But still, it stays elusive.
So what’s causing the strange lights in Norway?
As of now, scientists do not have a settled answer to this. One theory cited in the survey compares the lights to ball lightning.
It states that a change in the air by an outside cause, possibly stress in the Earth's crust, might interact with water and form a hot ball of plasma (a superheated, electrically charged gas) wrapped in a cooler coat.
Strand also describes a natural battery theory based on copper in the eastern mountains and iron in the western ones. But in this case, that battery would produce only about one volt, which he says is too little.
He concluded, "When you have studied so much, and you haven't found any answer which lies inside ordinary known physics, it must be something new."

🚨BREAKING🚨: In March 1948, eight months after Roswell, the US military recovered an intact hundred-foot flying saucer from a mesa outside Aztec, New Mexico, with sixteen dead beings still aboard.

We discuss Robert Sarbacher (a top atomic physicist who worked alongside Oppenheimer and Vannevar Bush) who put it in writing that the story of the UFO Crash at Aztec was "substantially correct."
Then there are the FBI's redacted files on Silas Newton, the wealthy oil prospector who first leaked the story, and Leo Gebauer, the radio engineer who backed him up. We now know the pair were likely framed by J. Edgar Hoover in coordination with Hoover’s friend, a journalist named JP Cahn. Scott Ramsey, our chief investigator, who with his wife Suzanne has spent decades and more than half a million dollars of their own money on this case, walks us through the four civilian witnesses he tracked down and spoke to himself, along with many other second degree witnesses; he also details the high-powered radar station guarding Los Alamos that brought the craft down in the first place (a phenomenon well documented in the FBI’s 1950 Hottel memo along with contemporary cases like the testimony of Jake Barber).
The first people up the mesa that March morning in 1948 were oil field workers who'd been called out to a brush fire, and what they found instead was a hundred-foot disc sitting on its belly in the dirt, seamless, without a rivet or a dent on it.
Nineteen-year-old Doug Noland climbed on top, found a hole the size of a quarter punched through one porthole, and put his eye to it, and inside were small figures in blue jumpsuits slumped over a control panel.
When his boss Bill Ferguson poked a fire pole through the hole, a hatch in the belly dropped open, and the men went in and counted sixteen beings, three to four feet tall, charred head to foot in a cabin that showed no sign of fire.
Eighteen civilians stood around that craft before the military arrived, and two of them, one on his deathbed fifty years later, gave the same account down to the rancher's wife yelling at them for climbing on it.
The soldiers who came for it had done this before, with a helicopter overhead within hours, a machine most Americans in 1948 had never seen, and older men with no insignia of any branch working the hill like drill sergeants, one of whom put a rifle butt in Ken Farley's gut when he argued. By mid-morning the mesa was sealed and the only civilian still up there was a travelling Baptist minister named Solon Brown, who was asked to pray over the bodies laid out in a row while the flatbed trucks came up the road below, and was then sworn to silence and walked off the hill. He broke down crying in a deacon's living room that night, and the deacon's son, who was in the room, has now gone on record with us about it.

Then the Air Force erased the recovery itself, and the sergeant who did the erasing is named here under his real name for the first time.
Dick Harper's only job for two weeks was rewriting the files of the two hundred men sent to the mesa so that every one of them was officially somewhere else, which meant that if any of them ever talked, his own service record would call him a liar.
The mesa was scrubbed and landscaped to look like nothing had happened, and the man hired to replant it wrote years later that of every crash site he'd cleaned up for the government, this was the only one that was already spotless when he got there.
Somebody was still protecting Aztec long after the craft was gone.
Frank Scully, the Variety columnist who broke the story in 1950, and was later knighted by the Pope, took the scientists' names to his grave, and what he got for it was seventy years as the punchline of the case, “the gossip writer who was taken in by con men”.
Bill Steinman was the UFO researcher whose 1986 book reopened Aztec and drew the Sarbacher letter out. He wrote it while working as an engineer at Lockheed, and when he ignored their orders to stop, Lockheed fired him and made sure no one else in aerospace would hire him. Another UFO researcher, Chris Evans, got closest to the proof: Scully's widow Alice told him photographs of the crash still existed, and he was on the road to bring what he had to the Ramseys when he died.
The highway patrol wrote it up as a jump from a bridge, but the one witness they cited was never found, and his body came down in a cornfield, well clear of the water.
The Ramseys' work also points straight at who took the craft:
all nine scientists flown in to examine it trace back to Vannevar Bush's wartime research network, the same machine that built the atomic bomb, and six of them went on to help found Texas Instruments.
The technology went to the top of the nuclear program and then it went private.
The hoax was manufactured, and we show how.
A rival writer, JP Cahn, who'd lost the scoop took his grudge to Hoover, who knew a thing or two about ruining people, and Newton and Gebauer were prosecuted over an oil-prospecting gadget in a case seven judges refused before one would hear it, and that conviction became the proof that Aztec never happened. Newton was worth 20 million dollars at the time. Adjust for inflation, and that becomes nine figures, so he definitely didn’t need to con anyone. The skeptic who kept the verdict alive for decades was a self-described former CIA officer, Karl Pflock, who'd never set foot on the site until Scott Ramsey drove him there. And a source who came to us during production says that when Ramsey later sent his evidence to a congressman investigating the case, Pflock was caught on the office's security cameras breaking in, and the only thing he left with was the package containing evidence around Aztec.
