WATCH: Steve Hilton Brands Xavier Becerra “Btch–Ass Becerra”, Destroys Him on Debate Stage Over Susan Rice – “She Called You ‘Btch Ass'”by Jordan Conradson Oct. 2, 2026 8:00

California Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton went off on Democrat Xavier Becerra during their debate this week on CNN, reminding him on live TV that his colleague in the Biden Administration, Susan Rice, referred to him as an “idiot” and a “b*tch ass.”

It can be recalled that Rice, a leading figure in Biden’s failed wide-open border approach, reportedly held deep animosity toward Becerra over his failures in providing trafficked children with shelters during the Biden border crisis.

Even the architect of the plan to give away control of the border to the cartels and smugglers was fed up with Becerra’s negligence, so much so that she called him an “idiot” and a “b*tch ass” in private conversations. Now, Becerra wants to be the chief executive of a border state, which is already overrun with illegal immigrants and violent criminals.

Hilton reminded Becerra and the world of Susan Rice’s condemnation of him during his tenure as Health and Human Services Secretary under Biden, telling him live on stage,“She described you as an idiot. She called you bitch ass.”

Further, the Hilton campaign also made a website, slamming him with the nickname, “B*tch–ass Becerra” and a website dedicated to the new title. “Chaos. Fraud. Child trafficking. Gender extremism. Higher costs for you. Empty Suit Becerra stood by and did nothing. He enabled it all,” the website reads.

“Susan Rice called him ‘b*tch-ass’ and an ‘idiot.’ Nancy Pelosi told Biden not to put him in the Cabinet. Obama’s speechwriter said ‘nobody in the administration has anything good to say about him.’ Former Biden official Xochitl Hinojosa said he was not an effective HHS secretary. ‘I do not think he is qualified to be the governor,’ a former colleague said. ‘I don’t think he’s qualified to be the boss of anything.'”

During the debate on Wednesday, Hilton thrashed the Democratic nominee after Becerra accused him of being all talk and no action, saying, “You just say the talk, but you’ve never done it.”

“What I’ve never done is what you’ve done in your 36 years as a career politician, where you’ve never created a job, you’ve never actually had to make any money of your own,”Hilton fired back. “All you’ve ever done is spent other people’s money in every government job you’ve had.”

Then he ended Becerra by saying, “according to your Democrat colleagues, the ones who worked with you, like Susan Rice, who worked with you side-by-side when you were in the Biden cabinet, she described you as an idiot. She called you bitch-ass. Why did Susan Rice, a respected political leader, call you an idiot?”

Becerra stammered back, claiming he created “millions of jobs” as a member of Congress, by fighting Trump as Attorney General, and in his role as HHS Secretary and trying to recover from the brutal hit.

Throughout the debate, as the Gateway Pundit reported, Hilton destroyed Becerra on his record as HHS Secretary under Biden, where he lost track of hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied minors who were trafficked across the border and likely sold into slavery.

Brazil votes in high-stakes election as U.S.-China rivalry and debt loom large

Published Fri, Oct 2 2026 Chloe Taylor @ChloeTaylor141

Key Points

• The race: Brazilians vote on Oct. 4 in the first round of a closely watched presidential election, with incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro dominating the polls.

• Why it matters globally: The result could influence Brazil’s relationships with the U.S. and China, including over trade and access to critical minerals, as Bolsonaro emphasizes alignment with Washington while Lula stresses Brazilian sovereignty.

• The economic stakes: Whoever wins will inherit pressure to address Brazil’s public finances, with high government debt, a large budget deficit and elevated borrowing costs putting fiscal policy at the center of investor attention.

Brazil will hold a knife-edge vote on Sunday as its presidential race kicks off — but the election’s outcome is likely to be felt far beyond the country’s borders.

Voters will head to the polls to decide whether incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva — known colloquially as Lula — should remain in office or be replaced by one of 12 alternative candidates.

If no candidate wins more than 50% of votes in Sunday’s first round, the two candidates with the most support will progress to a final runoff vote on Oct. 25.

Polls point to a tight race, with frontrunners Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro effectively tied for support among voters.

A win for left-leaning Lula would mark his fourth presidential term, while victory for Bolsonaro is expected to mark a shift back to his father’s right-wing movement.

Lula versus Bolsonaro

Lula’s center-left Workers Party (PT) has been a pioneer of social programs aimed at lifting millions of people out of poverty — but it has been stained by corruption scandals. Lula himself spent 18 months in prison after receiving a coastal property from an engineering firm involved in the so-called Car Wash corruption investigation. Former president Dilma Rousseff, who succeeded Lula in 2010, was impeached in 2016, having been accused of budget manipulation.

Flávio Bolsonaro is a senator and son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is currently under house arrest. Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years in prison for plotting a coup after losing the 2022 presidential election to Lula.

Bolsonaro is widely viewed as the political heir to his father, with his policy mix favoring privatization, spending cuts and close alignment with the U.S. — policies that have had recent successes across Latin America, with Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Peru all inaugurating conservative leaders in the last 12 months.

Lula, meanwhile, has put Brazilian sovereignty at the center of his campaign. He has also pledged to reduce Brazil’s traditional six-day work week, cut income tax for low-earners and enact policing reforms.

The president has endured a rocky relationship with the Trump administration, which treated Jair Bolsonaro – dubbed colloquially the “Trump of the Tropics” – as a close ally. U.S. President Donald Trump announced 50% tariffs on Brazil in July 2025 in response to what he labeled a “witch-hunt” trial against Jair Bolsonaro.

Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, son of Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro, holds dolls depicting U.S. President Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro during an interview with Reuters in Brasilia, Brazil, on Dec. 19, 2025.

Brazil’s relationship with China

Otaviano Canuto, a nonresident senior fellow at The Brookings Institution and a former executive director at the Board of the International Monetary Fund for Brazil, told CNBC that the upcoming vote was a “hinge election” for the broader region with respect to the U.S. and the so-called “Donroe Doctrine” that has seen the Trump administration take a greater interest in Latin America….

Debt-saddled Argentina pitches 'golden passport' scheme to woo wealthy foreigners

Argentina is putting a price on citizenship as President Javier Milei searches for dollars to help the country meet its debts

By ISABEL DEBRE Associated Press October 2, 2026, 12:36 PM ET1/2

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Argentina on Friday announced plans to offer citizenship to wealthy foreigners in exchange for cash contributions or investments in government bonds, as libertarian President Javier Milei seeks new sources of dollars for the debt-burdened nation.

Economy Minister Luis Caputo unveiled the so-called “golden passport” scheme at an investor event in Paris, saying applications are expected to open before the end of the year.

Applicants have two options: make a nonrefundable $350,000 contribution to the Argentine Treasury or invest $800,000 in a new government bond that must be held for seven years. Contributions would increase depending on family size, with a family of four expected to pay $500,000, officials said.

Securing dollars is critical for Milei as he prepares to seek reelection next year. Argentina’s Treasury faces nearly $25 billion in foreign-currency debt payments coming due in 2027. But having narrowed its financing options by holding off on a return to international bond markets, the government is searching for alternative sources of revenue.

A consortium of investment firms advising the government estimated that the paid-citizenship program could raise up to $2.5 billion for Argentina if it receives the expected number of applicants.

Citizenship with global reach

So-called “golden visa” programs have become increasingly common among cash-strapped countries battling to attract deep-pocketed foreigners, with about 60 nations offering residency privileges in exchange for one-off investments. U.S. President Donald Trump launched his own “gold card” program for the U.S. last year.

Citizenship-for-investment programs go further, offering more rights and a passport that opens doors abroad. Only about a dozen countries have active programs, including small Caribbean island states.

Argentina, a G-20 nation of 46 million people home to a vast Patagonian wilderness and culturally vibrant capital, is set to become the first South American country to join their ranks.

“The Argentine passport is highly valued, accepted in more than 140 countries,” Caputo said, referring to destinations Argentines can visit without obtaining a visa in advance — from China and Russia to Europe’s Schengen area and most of Latin America.

For wealthy people from countries that face visa restrictions, whether in Southeast Asia or the Arab world, Argentine citizenship could make it easier to travel and do business internationally, said Kristin Surak, a professor at the London School of Economics and author of “The Golden Passport: Global Mobility for Millionaires."

"It’s not only the benefits that you get within Argentina,” she said. “You also get benefits globally in terms of where you can go.”

A second passport as a Plan B

The clientele of such programs has shifted since the COVID-19 pandemic, industry experts say, with more Americans and Europeans — whose passports already offer extensive visa-free travel — seeking a foothold abroad as an escape hatch at a time of mounting geopolitical uncertainty.

“The Southern Cone of South America is the ultimate Plan B destination. It’s not on the way to anywhere strategically important. It’s a region that’s always staying out of global armed conflict,” said Christian Nesheim, editor of Investment Migration Insider, a trade journal. “It’s self-sufficient when it comes to food, to energy.”

A country with a history of military coups, debt defaults and runaway inflation that long sent its own business elite seeking opportunities abroad might seem an unlikely refuge for investors chasing stability. But Milei is trying to recast Argentina as a destination for foreign wealth, slashing public spending, dismantling regulations and courting investment in the country’s vast oil and mineral resources.

Caputo said the idea for the citizenship-for-investment program emerged during Milei’s July 2024 visit to Sun Valley, Idaho, when tech executives expressed interest in obtaining Argentine citizenship.

A self-proclaimed “anarcho-capitalist,” Milei has cultivated close ties with libertarian-minded tech billionaires such as Elon Musk, a vocal supporter of Milei's drive to shrink government. Last year, he brandished a chainsaw gifted by the Argentine leader as a symbol of his own campaign to slash U.S. government spending.

Another ideological ally is Peter Thiel, a co-founder of software firm Palantir who temporarily moved his family to Buenos Aires in April. Corporate records obtained by The Associated Press show that a company linked to his investment firm, Thiel Capital, owns a $13.5 million mansion in the city’s upscale Barrio Parque neighborhood. Thiel also secured New Zealand citizenship in 2011, receiving a special exemption from the usual residency requirements.

“I think that this 'Peter Thiel in Argentina' story is maybe a bit of a proof of concept (for the citizenship program)," said Philippe Amarante, managing partner and head of government advisory at Henley & Partners, a consultancy that helps clients obtain passports around the globe.

“He stands for this idea that independent, wealthy, successful people do have choices around the world. And if you provide the right environments and right habitats, the right ecosystem, they might choose you.”

The risks of selling citizenship

Golden passport programs have long drawn criticism over their vulnerability to corruption. The Financial Action Task Force, the global money-laundering watchdog, has warned that criminals exploit citizenship and residency programs to conceal their identities, launder illicit wealth and evade justice.

In a blow to the investment migration industry, the European Union’s top court ruled Malta’s golden passport program unlawful in April 2025, declaring that EU citizenship could not be sold. Other countries have also scrapped cash-for-residency programs, citing concerns ranging from dirty money to housing affordability.

Caputo vowed to prevent such pitfalls, with intelligence and financial oversight agencies helping to vet applicants’ identities, criminal records and sources of funds.

The aim, he said, is to protect “the international standing of Argentine citizenship.”

REALLY? MSNOW Guest Suggests the Second Amendment Was About ‘Slave Patrols’ (VIDEO)

by Mike LaChance Oct. 2, 2026 9:40 pm

Left wing author Malcolm Gladwell recently appeared on MSNOW’s ‘Morning Joe’ and suggested that the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees American citizens the right to bear arms, was really written about slave patrols.

He spends much of the segment complaining about the Supreme Court, which he says has been ‘a significant impediment’ in the left’s pursuit of gun control.

The most amazing thing is that what he is saying here is treated as completely normal by the hosts, who do not interrupt or correct him in any way.

Transcript via NewsBusters:

MIKE BARNICLE, MS NOW CONTRIBUTOR: What do you say about a culture, American culture, that when a disease is identified and it’s threatening and it’s killing people, you can talk about from the inception of polio vaccines through AIDS, we — we react, we find — we find a cure almost immediately. People feel relieved. Guns have been killing Americans on the streets for decades — decades. And there’s nothing we can do.

GLADWELL: Yeah. I mean, here I have two chapters in the book on the Supreme Court. And the Supreme Court has been a significant impediment here. They have — the last two major gun rulings — in the Bruen case and the Heller case — are abominations. And I had — I actually have fun with them because in both of those cases, the court plays historian and plays linguist, because in the Heller case, of course, Scalia famously.

And the — and the fellow justices try to make sense of the grammatical convolution that is the Second Amendment, which, if you read, makes — no one would ever write that sentence today. It makes no sense whatsoever. It’s commas everywhere. There’s this weird initial what’s called an initial being clause. Does it modify the main clause? And all of these linguists lined up and told the court, “Okay, here’s how people in the 18th century used an initial being clause — here’s how James Madison used that clause. Here’s what James Madison meant.” What he meant was, we’re talking about militias here, and by militias he meant slave patrols, right? And the court had no interest.

It’s amazing that someone with these views is allowed go on cable news and spread this insanity with absolutely no push back.

Only on MSNOW.

WATCH: White House Releases Compilation of Trump Going Off on CNN

by Jordan Conradson Oct. 2, 2026 7:00 pm

The White House on Friday dropped a hilarious video compilation of some of Trump’s greatest hits, slamming CNN repeatedly during his second term.

In the clip, Trump is seen bashing CNN as “fake news” and blasting the network’s White House correspondents as “corrupt,” “low-rated,” and “fake.”

WATCH:

This comes amid Trump’s ongoing feud with the networks after he banned CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House and revoked their press credentials last month.

The three outlets regained access to the White House after a judge ruled that Trump’s ban on the outlets was likely unconstitutional and ordered the White House to restore their access.

However, Trump has since banned CNN from accessing Air Force One or traveling with him, prompting a boycott on coverage from the five major networks, Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN.

The temporary restraining order on Trump’s ban of the outlets from the White House is also set to expire on October 8 without an extension. The outlets are now asking U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly for a preliminary injunction to extend their access to the White House until the case is resolved.

They are also seeking restoration of their access to the President in the normal television pool rotation and on Air Force One.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, CNN’s latest exclusion from traveling with Trump came on Thursday when he traveled to deliver remarks in Texas and Oklahoma.

This prompted another meltdown from MS Now, claiming that they were unable to access footage from Trump’s trip without one of their own in the television pool.

Decades later, Trump’s DOJ to review whether Nixon was mistreated during Watergate scandal

Story by Steve Benen •1/2

(This is Big and fantastic, Nixon and Trump were friends, and there are rumors that Nixon shared something very secretive with Trump!)

It’s outrageous enough that Donald Trump’s Justice Department has targeted the prosecutors who investigated the scandal-plagued Republican president. Though it seems hard to believe, it adds insult to injury to learn that the hyperpoliticized DOJ is also taking a fresh look at the prosecutors who investigated a different scandal-plagued Republican president.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

The department is reviewing whether the special prosecutor’s office that investigated the famed Watergate break-in committed misconduct, according to people familiar with the matter, more than half a century after that scandal led to Nixon’s resignation.

Geoff Shepard, a former Nixon aide turned Watergate historian and revisionist, recently gave a two-hour presentation at Justice Department headquarters that laid out his theory that the deep state took Nixon down.

The title of his 78-page slide deck: “Watergate As Lawfare.”

According to the Journal’s article, it was just last month when a senior Justice Department official invited Shepard to come to Main Justice and make his case before the Office of Professional Responsibility. A Justice Department spokesperson confirmed on the record that this actually happened.

“The review is preliminary,” the Journal said, “and it isn’t clear whether it will lead to a full-fledged probe.”

If this sounds at all familiar,it’s because Team Trump has been focused on Nixon and Watergate quite a bit lately.

Just a few months ago, for example,Ed Martin, before he stepped down as the highly controversial U.S. pardon attorney, published a bizarre item to social media, arguing that the Watergate scandal was a “hoax” orchestrated in part by the CIA.

Martin added, “The only thing worse than the lying CIA is the two-faced liar John Dean [who served as Nixon’s White House counsel] and the fiction-writer [Bob] Woodward. May they suffer in eternity.”

The Republican activist’s claims were ridiculous, but hours later they were nevertheless endorsed by Monica Crowley, a former Fox News personality who currently serves as the Trump administration’s chief of protocol.

“President Nixon was the target of a Deep State hoax,” Crowley wrote online while referencing Martin’s tweet. “He will be vindicated.”

Days later, JD Vance appeared at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in California, where the vice president kept the rhetorical campaign going.

After arguing that Nixon’s legacy is “enjoying a bit of a renaissance,” the Ohio Republican said, “As I joked … backstage, if Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be, like, a 12-hour news story. The idea that it would have taken down a presidency is crazy.”

As part of the same comments, Vance argued in apparent seriousness, “If you look at the story of how the deep state took down Richard Nixon, it’s not all that different from what the same groups of people, the same institutions, tried to do to Donald Trump in the first Trump administration.”

There were all kinds of problems with Vance’s pitch, including the simple fact that it’s bonkers to think Nixon was brought down by nefarious government insiders who plotted against him. We have, after all, heard the tapes. Nixon chose to engage in systemic abuses. His crimes were his own, not the fault of “the deep state,” whether Republicans choose to acknowledge reality or not.

Historian and journalist Garrett Graff, who wrote one of the defining books about Watergate, described Vance’s comments as “shockingly” ahistorical and an “immature understanding of what Watergate was and wasn’t.”

Timothy Naftali, the former director of the Nixon Library, told The Washington Post soon after that Vance “should know better as a well-educated lawyer.”

Naftali, a presidential historian at Columbia University, went on to refer to recordings that contain thousands of hours of Nixon’s Oval Office conversations.

“You can hear him suborn perjury on the tapes. He’s telling an intermediary what to tell someone who’s about to be interviewed by the FBI, what to say and what not to say,” the historian explained. “You can hear Nixon being told that money had been found to hire Teamsters to go and break the bones of demonstrators. That’s all illegal.”

“It’s not as if it’s a matter of partisan interpretation. The evidence is overwhelming,” Naftali concluded during his interview with the Post while offering additional examples of Nixon’s efforts to subvert legal protections.

Three months later, Trump’s Justice Department is nevertheless prepared to take a fresh look at whether Nixon was some kind of victim of prosecutorial abuse — developments that would’ve seemed unthinkable a half-century ago.

Tracking the DOJ's effort to get U.S. voter registration data

The Justice Department has asked state officials to provide voter names, dates of birth, residential addresses, driver’s licenses and Social Security data.

While many states have complied, the Justice Department has sued 30 states and Washington, D.C., for refusing.

May 7, 2026, 1:22 PM EDT / Updated Oct. 1, 2026, 4:35 PM EDT By Gary Grumbach

The Justice Department is seeking voter registration list data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia as part of what they consider to be their responsibility to “ensure that states have proper and effective voter registration and voter list maintenance programs.”

While many states have complied with the requests, the department has filed lawsuits against 30 states and Washington, D.C., for refusing.

The Justice Department has said it must comply with the president’s March 2025 executive order, which requires the attorney general to “ensure compliance” with voter registration laws, and to “take appropriate action with respect to states that fail to comply” with voter laws.

The requests were unusual. The Justice Department has asked for information from states on elections before, but not voter registration databases from so many states.

States run their own elections and maintain their own voter data. There is no national database of voters, and the federal government does not oversee U.S. elections.

But President Donald Trump, who still falsely maintains the 2020 election was stolen and that there is widespread voter fraud though members of his own administration have said there was no evidence to back up those claims, has suggested that Republicans should nationalize elections. That move would violate the U.S. Constitution.

The Justice Department is asking states to agree to what they call a “confidential memorandum of understanding,” which would require states to include voter names, dates of birth, residential addresses, state driver’s licenses and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers.

The DOJ says that after the states hand over the data, they’ll alert the officials to any “voter list maintenance issues, insufficiencies, inadequacies, deficiencies, anomalies, or concerns, the Justice Department found when testing, assessing and analyzing” the state’s voter registration lists.

Notably, six Republican-leaning states have refused to turn over their data: Idaho, Utah, West Virginia, Kentucky and Georgia. And not every state that has handed over their data has agreed to sign the agreements; Iowa, Mississippi, South Dakota and Tennessee did not.

Here’s where the lawsuits stand:

Ongoing litigation:

The Justice Department has ongoing litigation in four states: Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho and Utah.

They’ve sued secretaries of state, elections commissions and boards of elections around the country in their efforts to get this information that they say will be used to look into any potential “voter list maintenance issues, insufficiencies, inadequacies, deficiencies, anomalies or concerns.”

Dismissal appealed:

Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Dismissal affirmed by appeals court:

Michigan.

Litigation dismissed:

Georgia, Vermont and Washington.

Outliers:

The Justice Department reached a settlement with Oklahoma, with the state agreeing to provide voter data in exchange for the DOJ dismissing the lawsuit. The Justice Department and the North Carolina State Board of Elections reached a legal settlement on the issue. North Dakota has been discussing a potential information-sharing agreement with the DOJ, and no lawsuit has been filed.

In Alabama, a request for data was made but state officials didn’t respond to questions about where that request stands. In North Dakota, the Justice Department was in discussions with the state over supplying the data as of last summer, according to the Brennan Center for Justice, which tracks the cases.

States that willingly provided voter data:

Iowa, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Alaska, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Kansas and Montana.

DOJ Sues University for Penalizing Americans with High Tuition, Putting ‘Illegal Aliens Over U.S. Citizens’

by Jack Davis, The Western Journal Oct. 2, 2026 6:40 pm

The University of Delaware is being sued by the Department of Justice for giving illegal immigrants a tuition discount to which they are not entitled.

The school allows illegal immigrants to qualify for the lower tuition rate charged for Delaware residents, according to a Justice Department news release.

American citizens who do not live in Delaware do not qualify, the release said, leading to a situation where illegal immigrants are given preference over Americans.

The University of Delaware allows illegal immigrants to attend at a tuition rate of $15,740, the rate for state residents. The rate for students from outside of the state is $42,470.

“This Department of Justice’s efforts will not cease until we have challenged every state law or university policy that gives preferential treatment to illegal aliens over our Nation’s own citizens,” Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward Jr. said in the release.

“Congress long ago made clear that states cannot give reduced tuition to illegal aliens not available to all Americans. When a state Attorney General allows her own state to violate federal law, this department must step in to enforce it,” he continued.

Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate of the Justice Department’s Civil Division said that “this is a simple matter of federal law: colleges cannot provide benefits to illegal aliens that they do not provide to U.S. citizens.”

“This Department of Justice will not tolerate American students being treated like second-class citizens in their own country,” he added.

The lawsuit seeks to end the current policy and prevent the college from adopting a new policy to disregard the law.

The lawsuit noted that the “preferential treatment” Delaware grants illegal immigrants “is squarely prohibited by federal law mandating that ‘an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State… for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit… without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident.’”

The lawsuit also argued that giving illegal immigrants a public benefit needs a state legislature to act. That did not happen in this case.

The news release noted that it now has filed 26 lawsuits to stop giving tuition discounts to illegal immigrants. The release said Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Illinois, and Kansas have had to modify their policies.

Lawsuits are pending against Minnesota, Virginia, California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, Colorado, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, the District of Columbia, Arkansas, and Utah.

Shaykh Uthman ibn Farooq laid out a vision for an Islamic America during a livestreamed event at the Sufaraa Center in McKinney, Texas, last week.

Authentic Ilm Mission, which hosted the event, has plans for a 40,000-square-foot facility near Plano, Texas, and used the livestream featuring Farooq to fundraise for the multipurpose school and Islamic community center.

“We love this country,” Farooq said. “We want good for this country. And that’s why we want Islam for this country, ’cause we think that’s the best thing. And we’re not going to be ashamed of that.”

He went on to argue that Muslims are fully within their constitutional rights to adhere to Sharia law. “We’re Muslims. That’s our identity, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The Constitution of this country protects that. That’s our right to believe in the Sharia. Yes, I said it. That’s our right.”…

The AIM website describes the project as having raised $300,000 of the $800,000 needed, with donations reportedly coming from 1,500 individuals in 50 countries. The site features a video of a mosque displacing a beautiful church building with a steeple and classical brick architecture. A different graphic on the website allows users to swipe across the screen to replace an image of the church building at the address listed with an image of the new mosque. The number of mosques in America has surpassed 3,000 in recent years.

People in Plano have a right to be concerned.

The image of the church being transformed is unsettling.

Abbott Says $7.5 Billion Border Reimbursement Could Help Fund Property Tax Relief

The governor says he wants to dedicate “as much as possible” to property tax relief while maintaining border security funding.

Border Reimbursement Check

A $7.5 billion check from the federal government could be headed toward property tax relief for Texans.

Gov. Greg Abbott said Friday that he wants to use as much of Texas’ recent border-security reimbursement as possible to reduce property taxes, while maintaining funding for the state’s ongoing border operations.

Abbott made the comments at the Governor’s Mansion, where he was joined by law enforcement officials to commemorate October as Texas Law Enforcement Appreciation Month.

Presenting alongside an oversized check made out from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to the “People of Texas” for $7.5 billion, Abbott highlighted the federal government’s reimbursement of costs incurred by Texas under Operation Lone Star.

Asked by Texas Scorecard how he anticipates the $7.5 billion being used during the next legislative session and whether it should go toward property tax relief, Abbott said the final allocation will be worked out with lawmakers.

“You know me. I want to dedicate as much as possible to property tax relief,” Abbott said.

But Abbott said some of the money will also need to support the state’s continued border-security efforts.

“Our job of securing the border is not done,” said Abbott. “We must secure the border not just for the next two years of the Republican administration, but we’re going to do it forever.”

Abbott said state officials will need to develop a strategy for funding border security over the next four years while also “ensuring that Texas taxpayers are going to get relief from this money that we have received from the federal government.”

Asked whether he thought the state could accomplish both goals, Abbott responded, “I know we can do both.”

Abbott’s comments come after Texas Comptroller Don Huffines last week also pointed to the reimbursement as an opportunity for additional property tax relief.

“This money is coming back where it belongs,” Huffines said. “Combined with continued growth in sales tax revenue, it puts the Legislature in a far stronger position to deliver meaningful property tax relief next session.”

The $7.5 billion reimbursement was first announced last month after the Department of Homeland Security approved Texas’ application to recover a portion of the billions spent on border security during the Biden administration.

But Abbott said Friday that Operation Lone Star remains active and argued Texas must continue budgeting for border enforcement even with the change in presidential administrations.

“We must secure the border not just for the next two years of the Republican administration, but we’re going to do it forever,” Abbott said. “We’ve got to have what our strategy is going to be for the next four years to make sure that is funded.”

Texas could also receive billions more from the federal government.

Abbott said the state has already applied for a share of an additional $3 billion reimbursement fund administered by the U.S. Department of Justice. Texas received $7.5 billion—or 75 percent—of the $10 billion DHS had available for state reimbursements.

“My goal from the $3 billion that DOJ has is to get 75% of that also,” Abbott said, adding that such an award would bring Texas “close to the $10 billion total.”
