Moscow vows to ramp up strikes on Ukraine after Zelensky’s threat

The Ukrainian leader, who earlier pledged to intensify attacks on Russian oil refineries, is the only one to blame for new escalation, the Defense Ministry says

Russia will intensify strikes on military and defense-related facilities in Ukraine in response to Vladimir Zelensky’s threat to increase attacks on Russian oil refineries, the Defense Ministry warned.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said it has “taken note” of theUkrainian leader’s promise a day earlier to step up attacks on Russian oil refineriesin response to strikes on bridges across the Dnieper River in Kiev.

Russia has already ramped up strikes on military-related logistics – including the key port of Odessa – and the defense industrial base in recent weeks in response to Zelensky’s botched 40-day PR ‘pressure campaign’, which included long-range strikes targeting oil refineries and civilian infrastructure deep inside Russia.

“Following Zelensky’s statement today, strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on military and military-industrial facilities, as well as related infrastructure in Kiev and other regions of Ukraine, will be intensified,” the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

People in Ukraine should blame only the head of the Kiev regime for this. It is Zelensky who bears full personal and political responsibility for it.

The Defense Ministry reiterated that the Russian military has been responding to Kiev’s attacks on civilian targets in Russia that were meant to disrupt the State Duma election. It cited strikes on polling stations that killed six civilians, an attempted mass attack involving more than 1,600 Ukrainian strike drones against civilian sites in Moscow on September 19-20, and drone attacks aimed at disrupting the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June.

It also cited a strike on residential areas in Belgorod that killed and wounded civilians and damaged apartment buildings, houses, and vehicles.

President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that the strikes on oil refineries have cost around 1% of Russia’s GDP, but noted that the damaged facilities are being quickly restored, and that the nation’s energy system is operating with significant reserve capacity. Following Russia’s retaliatory strikes, Ukraine no longer has a steelmaking industry, he added.

Trump told Zelensky to stop bombing the oil and he keeps on bombing.

HYPOCRISY: Crazed Democrat Gov. Maura Healey, Who Sued Exxon and Bragged She “Stopped Two Gas Pipelines,” Now Begs Trump’s Energy Secretary to Fast-Track a Natural Gas Expansion Days Before Re-election

by Jim Hᴏft Oct. 4, 2026 11:40 am

Massachusetts Democrat Governor Maura Healey is suddenly singing a very different tune on natural gas.

Far-left Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, the same Democrat who sued ExxonMobil over climate change and once boasted that she stopped gas pipelines from entering the state, is now pleading with the Trump administration to rush federal permits for a natural gas pipeline expansion.

Healey sent a letter Thursday to Energy Secretary Chris Wright urging the administration to speed reviews and permits for Enbridge’s Algonquin Reliable Affordable Resilient Enhancement project, known as RARE, according to her office and CommonWealth Beacon.

She asked Wright to “work across the Administration to ensure that the federal reviews and permits needed for RARE move without delay,” and that “sufficient staff and resources are dedicated to completing the required reviews in time to preserve the project’s planned 2028 in-service date.”

The governor’s own press office confirmed the ask. In an October 1 release, Healey called on the Trump administration to expedite federal review of the Algonquin expansion she says she has previously supported.

Her office said the project would supply gas to about 600,000 customers and cut gas bills by roughly $40 million a year. The savings would come largely from reducing reliance on higher-cost imported liquefied natural gas through the Everett LNG terminal.

In January, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities approved two 10-year agreements between Eversource gas utilities and Algonquin to take the new supply. Enbridge, not ratepayers, would pay for the development, Healey said.

“I’ve been clear that we need to bring more energy supply into Massachusetts with an all-of-the-above approach that includes solar, wind, storage, nuclear, geothermal, hydro and gas,” Healey said in the release.

“This project will lower costs for 600,000 customers… Massachusetts is moving forward with its review, and I’m asking the federal government to do the same — move quickly and keep this project on track so customers can see the savings.”

That is a remarkable reversal from the Maura Healey who built a political brand attacking fossil fuels.

As attorney general, Healey sued ExxonMobil in October 2019, accusing the company of deceiving Massachusetts consumers and investors about climate change. “Exxon has known for decades about the catastrophic climate impacts of burning fossil fuels—its chief product,” she said in the official announcement of the suit. Massachusetts’ highest court later rejected Exxon’s effort to dismiss the case.

She was just as blunt about pipelines. At an April 2022 WBUR gubernatorial forum, Healey declared, “I stopped two gas pipelines from coming into this state,” naming Kinder Morgan and Access Northeast, The Daily Caller reported.

“I think I’ve shown my willingness to stand up to the fossil fuel industry and also to oppose new gas infrastructure in this state.” In 2015 her office released a study and said Massachusetts did not need more gas capacity for electric reliability, and that electric ratepayers should not pay for new pipelines.

The Boston Globe noted this week that as attorney general Healey tried to slow pipeline projects, and as governor she now wants them sped up.

The Boston Herald reported the letter landed about a month before the November election, with energy costs a central issue in her race against Republican Mike Minogue.

Minogue called out Healey’s hypocrisy on X:

“We need clean, safe natural gas to power Massachusetts forward and lower your energy bills. Maura Healey stopped the pipelines from coming in. Now, 30 days until the election, she’s following my lead. Just like with the gas tax holiday, it’s all talk and no action. It’s time for a new kind of governor.”

Healey’s letter also left the door open to something much bigger. She told Wright “there may be more opportunities ahead,” a reference to Enbridge’s Project Beacon, a proposal roughly four times the size of RARE that could lift Algonquin supply by as much as 10 percent and potentially come online in 2030, CommonWealth Beacon reported.

For the record, this wicked governor signed into a law a bill that allows abortions up until birth. Some people call that murder.
