Trump DOJ Charges 28 Foreign Nationals with Election Crimes Across 12 States
The Justice Department has charged 28 foreign individuals across 12 states with illegal voting, election interference, and related crimes as President Donald Trump’s administration intensifies its election-integrity crackdown ahead of the midterms.
The charges were announced during two separate enforcement actions over the past two weeks.
Twelve defendants were charged or entered guilty pleas this week.
It follows an earlier announcement involving 16 people on September 18.
Those targeted include illegal aliens, other noncitizens, lawful permanent residents, and a former postal worker accused of discarding hundreds of mail-in ballots.
‘Only Americans Should Elect American Leaders’
The Department of Homeland Security said it is working with the Justice Department to identify, prosecute, and remove foreign nationals who illegally participate in American elections.
“DHS and DOJ are laser-focused on prosecuting and removing aliens who vote and preventing the dilution of the votes of U.S. citizens,” a DHS spokesperson said.
“Only Americans should elect American leaders.”
“Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear:
“We will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences—including criminal charges and deportation.”
The defendants come from several countries, including Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Antigua and Barbuda, and Venezuela.
Federal prosecutors said the alleged offenses included illegally registering to vote, casting ballots in federal elections, voting multiple times, and interfering with election materials.
DACA Recipient Accused Of Voting Nearly 10 Times
Three noncitizens living in Georgia were recently charged with illegally voting in American elections.
Pauline Lewis, 65, an alleged noncitizen from Antigua and Barbuda, was detained for voting as an illegal alien in a federal election.
Prosecutors accused Gabriel Covarrubias, a 44-year-old alleged Mexican noncitizen, of voting in person under an incorrect name during the November 2024 federal election.
He was also accused of making a false statement on a U.S. passport application.
Analiea Milliscent Eccles, a 44-year-old Venezuelan noncitizen and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipient, allegedly voted nearly 10 times between 2008 and 2024.
Prosecutors said Eccles also falsely claimed to be an American citizen to cast a ballot.
Ballot Destruction Among Additional Charges
The Justice Department’s crackdown extends beyond noncitizen voting.
Other cases involve false statements about citizenship and a former postal worker accused of dumping approximately 300 mail-in ballots instead of delivering them.
The federal actions include defendants in Florida, Texas, Utah, Georgia, and eight other states.
