Kiev launched 650 UAVs toward the Russian capital overnight, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has said
Two civilians have been killed and nine injured after Ukraine launched 650 drones toward Moscow and the surrounding region overnight, local officials have said.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said in the early hours of Tuesday that most of the UAVs were destroyed at “distant lines,” while 134 were intercepted on the approaches to Moscow itself.
In Moscow Region, air defenses neutralized 185 drones, Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported.
A 20-year-old man was killed in the settlement of Radumlya, northwest of Moscow, while rescuers found a 71-year-old man dead beneath the rubble of a destroyed private home in Barybino, south of the capital, with a woman in the same building receiving injuries.
A man in Pokrovskoye, west of Moscow, was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds, while two residents of the Istra area, also west of the capital, were taken to hospital. Three people in Lyakhovo, south of Moscow, received medical care but declined hospitalization, Vorobyov added.
Vorobyov said a total of 47 private homes were damaged across the region.
In Lobanovo, south of the capital, windows and balcony glazing were blown out in four apartments, while a nearby boiler house was also damaged.
Three cars were hit, and a small fire at a warehouse in Litvinovo, northwest of Moscow, was extinguished, according to the governor.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, a total of 868 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across the country overnight.
On Tuesday, Rodion Miroshnik, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry mission tracking alleged Ukrainian war crimes, told TASS that 29 civilians, including two children, were killed and 206 injured in Ukrainian attacks on Russian regions over the past week alone.
He added that 98% were victims of drone strikes.
Ukraine has ramped up attacks deep into Russia in recent weeks, targeting oil refineries and civilian infrastructure.
After Vladimir Zelensky pledged to escalate the strikes even further, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that it had “taken note” of the statement, vowing to intensify attacks on Ukrainian military and defense industrial facilities as well as related infrastructure.
Moscow maintains it never targets civilians.

Russia Behind Drone Strikes on Ships Off Bulgaria, Zelensky Says, as Radev Rules Out Invoking NATO Articles

In brief: Two civilian ships were hit by drones in Bulgaria’s Black Sea economic zone overnight, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Citing contacts with Bulgaria’s navy, he pinned the blame for the strikes on Russia, while Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said the drones’ origin was still unclear and ruled out invoking NATO’s Articles 4 and 5.
President Volodymyr Zelensky denied Ukraine’s responsibility for the strikes on two Bulgarian civilian vessels in the Black Sea, instead pinning the blame on Russia.
In his evening address on Tuesday, Oct. 6, Zelensky said that the Ukrainian Navy had been in contact with its Bulgarian counterparts.
According to him, they established that the ships were hit in a combined Russian strike using maritime and aerial drones.
However, Ukrainian intelligence and special services were still gathering additional details. “The Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted no operations in this part of the sea,” Zelensky said.
“This latest tragedy involving civilian vessels is part of Russia’s ongoing attempt to make the western Black Sea completely unsuitable for navigation.”
The President has ordered the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the Defense Ministry, intelligence services and other relevant agencies to cooperate as closely as possible with partners, so that both Ukraine and its allies are better able to defend themselves against such attacks.

Radev: Drones ‘either Russian or Ukrainian’
Zelensky’s statement came hours after Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said Sofia had not yet determined who launched the drones.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday afternoon, Radev said the vessels were struck by both a maritime and an aerial drone, Bulgarian National Television (BNT) reported.
“We have yet to try to establish where the attack came from, but it is clear: they are either Russian or Ukrainian,” he said, adding that the situation is “extremely worrying.”
According to him, the ship that was moving north was the one that sank, and for which Bulgarian authorities did not have further information on what it had onboard at the time of the report.
The other ship that was damaged was traveling south, carrying wheat, he said. Although it struck Bulgarian vessels, the attack could not be grounds for triggering NATO’s Article 4, which allows allies to request consultations; or 5, which invokes the alliance’s collective defense.
“We have much more serious attacks inside territorial waters. Keep in mind that this is 130 km [roughly 81 miles] from our coast; it falls within our exclusive economic zone, but these are considered neutral waters,” Radev said.
Still, the prime minister warned of a broader pattern, noting that ships are constantly being sunk in the Black Sea.
“This is hardly the most serious incident,” he said. “But it is serious as a trend because, as I said, when a war is not stopped in time, it expands its geographic reach.”
Crew still missing
Earlier on Tuesday, the vessels were identified as the Able and the Alfa Watan.
Vessel-tracking data from VesselFinder showed the Togo-flagged Alfa Watan heading toward Romania’s port of Sulina. Its last known position was about 70 nautical miles off the Bulgarian coast, shortly after 2 a.m. local time.
The Able caught fire, and all 18 people aboard abandoned it, according to Rumen Nikolov, who leads rescue operations in Varna, as cited by Bulgarian public radio BNR.
The Bulgarian ferry Dioscuria picked up the crew, some of whom were reportedly hurt.
Euronews described the strike as the first such attack inside the economic zone of a NATO member state.
The incident is the latest in a widening campaign against commercial shipping. Moscow has increasingly targeted merchant vessels in retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil facilities and tankers.
On Monday, Oct. 5, a Turkish-owned cargo ship carrying grain caught fire and sank after a drone struck it in the Black Sea.
On Tuesday, Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper said a Russian drone hit a Marshall Islands-flagged ship loaded with rapeseed oil. One person was killed and seven were injured.
Radev, a former president seen as pro-Russian, won in the April 2026 parliamentary election, which ended a stretch of seven national votes in four years.
His government has since said it would halt all weapons deliveries to Ukraine, after Bulgaria had been a key supplier of Soviet-standard artillery shells to the country.
The strikes follow increasing drone incursions, sabotage campaigns and cyberattacks conducted by Russia, which Ukraine’s Western allies say may be intended to test NATO’s collective resolve.

A suspected plot involving Iran to launch a complex drone attack on a key British airbase led the United States to remove its B-1 bomber aircraft from the base, two US officials told Reuters on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
British police said on Tuesday they had arrested a 22-year-old British man in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts as part of their investigation into the suspected plot.
A spokesperson for the US military's European Command declined to comment, saying: "It is inappropriate to discuss matters of intelligence, and we will not discuss specific force protection measures."

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, Israel Police Commissioner Daniel Levi, and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Director David Zini held a multi-arena situational assessment on Tuesday in preparation for the October 27 Knesset elections.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, issues of border security, defense, counterterrorism, and nationalistic crime were discussed, and the three leaders agreed on a set of measures to ensure safety and security in the coming weeks.

National Security Council issues antisemitism, terror warning for Israelis, Jews abroad on Oct. 7
The NSC issued several advisories, including to "avoid posting advance information on social media regarding travel or movements abroad."
The National Security Council issued a warning for Wednesday, amid the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre, stating that there is an increased threat against Israelis and Jews abroad, alongside demonstrations and riots, in a Tuesday statement.
"Terrorist organizations, and particularly Iran and its proxies [including] Hamas, and Global Jihad factions, see this date as a significant milestone," the NSC wrote.
The NSC also advised to "avoid traveling to destinations under a Level 4 travel warning [which includes] Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland, and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula."

Iranian terror activity in Western Hemisphere jointly condemned by 11 regional countries
In addition the condemning Iran, the statement commended the work of the 11 signatory nations in their efforts to counter the Islamic regime.
Eleven nations in the Western Hemisphere issued a joint statement on Monday condemning Iranian "terrorist actions" in the region, according to the US State Department website.
The statement, which condemned Iran's "malign influence operations" in the Western Hemisphere, followed the Countering Transnational Terrorism Forum, which the United States and Paraguay hosted in September.
The governments of the US, Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago issued the statement.
The Iranian operations condemned in the statement included "lethal plotting, illicit fundraising, political interference, foreign influence activities, and operations meant to bolster terrorist networks, coerce perceived enemies, compromise legal or administrative processes, and harm regional security."

Iranian women trained with missiles, drones as regime seeks recruits for ‘self-sacrifice’ campaign
Iranian state media published images of women training in missile use, urban warfare, firearms, and drone operations as part of a new military training campaign.
Female supporters of the Islamic Republic have begun training with Misagh, a shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile system designed to engage low-flying aircraft and drones, as part of training for the regime’s Janfada (self-sacrifice) campaign, according to images published by Iranian state media on Monday.
In addition to training with the missile system, the women were photographed holding firearms, learning to operate drones, and participating in what was described as “urban exercises” as part of the campaign’s first military training course.
Sasan Zare, spokesperson for the Jan Fada Movement, told the Iranian Student News Agency that the idea of “self-sacrifice” is part of the identity of the Iranian people.
“Recently, we have encountered a strange phenomenon; a large number of people from abroad are sending messages and saying that we are not Iranians, but we are ready to fight side by side with the Iranian people in the fight against America and the Zionist regime,” she claimed. “This phenomenon was formed with the national identity of Iranians, and today it is multiplying in the number of free and free people in the world."

Katz threatens all-out war on PA while IDF insists no concrete intelligence of attack
Katz also implied he had additional intelligence that the IDF did not. Sources from the Shin Bet told the Post later on Tuesday that they do not know of a concrete threat from the PA.
Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened on Tuesday to launch an all-out campaign against the Palestinian Authority based on a scenario in which PA security forces could turn their weapons against Israel, despite IDF sources saying there was no concrete intelligence indicating that such a move was being planned.
Asked whether the claim was manufactured, Katz told The Jerusalem Post that it was based on an IDF presentation to the cabinet on Monday concerning the military's need to prepare for extreme scenarios.
However, additional IDF sources said the military had no concrete intelligence pointing to a planned rebellion by PA security forces or Fatah-affiliated Tanzim elements. They acknowledged, however, that the IDF must routinely prepare for extreme scenarios, including highly unlikely ones.
Katz presented the scenario during a security briefing to the government on the IDF's preparations in the West Bank. His remarks were not coordinated with the IDF, and military sources did not indicate agreement with his decision to make the scenario public.

Pentagon selects four directed-energy systems for counter-drone pilot

AeroVironment, Boeing, Epirus, and Kord systems will undergo operational evaluation in a homeland counter-drone pilot.
he US Department of War (DoW) has selected four high-energy laser and high-powered microwave systems for a counter-uncrewed aircraft pilot intended to assess their operational use in homeland defence.
As outlined by the department, the pilot will evaluate the AeroVironment Palletized High-Energy Laser, Epirus Leonidas High-Powered Microwave, Kord Firefly High-Energy Laser, and Boeing Compact Laser Weapon systems.
Data from the programme will inform ongoing efforts to integrate high-energy laser (HEL) and high-powered microwave (HPM) capabilities into broader counter-unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) strategies.
JIATF 401 director, US Army brigadier general Matt Ross said: “High-energy lasers and high-powered microwave systems are tools that can be effectively used in a layered drone defence.
“This pilot programme will test these capabilities in an operational environment so we can understand how best to integrate and sustain them to defend the homeland.”
The pilot was mandated by the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. It aims to provide real-world data on operational requirements, costs, and best practices, according to the department.
JIATF 401, which oversees the effort, was created to consolidate counter-small UAS activities across federal agencies and allied partners.
The programme is being conducted in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), US Northern Command, and the military services.
Earlier in the year, a live-fire high-energy laser demonstration at White Sands Missile Range, conducted jointly by JIATF 401 and the FAA, triggered a safety assessment that found minimal risk to the national airspace and established guidelines for continued collaboration.
The DoW and JIATF 401 plan to assess additional directed-energy technologies moving forward.
In December, a directed-energy “shoot-off” at Dugway Proving Ground will assess further systems for possible inclusion in future operational activities.
Ross said: “There is no silver bullet, or one size fits all solution to countering the threat of drones.
“Directed energy gives commanders another option within a layered defence, complementing existing counter-UAS capabilities with a scalable, safe, and effective way to respond to drone threats.”

The Trump Administration Can Make History by Unraveling Alien Technology

The main challenge in identifying technological products of non-human origin, hereafter alien tech, is in separating the wheat from the chaff.
The chaff is not just in the form of natural objects like birds, or familiar human technologies like drones, balloons, airplanes or satellites. It can also be in the form of black projects which represent technologies of the future.
It is well known that the B-2 stealth bombers were confused for Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UFOs) during their early test period.
Similarly, if China employs today spy drones with AI capabilities beyond those familiar from commercial markets, those may be confused for mysterious orbs and reported as Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) by FBI agents in the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE).
The simplest way out of this possible confusion is to search for manufactured objects which represent a quantum leap in technology, akin to the surprising appearance of a cell phone to the eyes of a cave dweller who is used to sharpening stones.
Over the past century our terrestrial technologies evolved in gradual steps, each representing a mild improvement relative to what preceded it, and fully understandable in terms of the progress in humanity’s research and development programs.
Our future technologies or black projects can therefore be interpreted in terms of understandable improvements in what we developed so far. However, alien tech is unlikely to be close to what was developed so far on Earth, because humanity only had one century since quantum mechanics was discovered and aliens may have engaged in research and development that extended over thousands, millions or billions of years after the discovery of quantum mechanics. If we find their products near Earth, they must have reached our backyard before we reached theirs.
Such an advanced alien tech is likely to be incomprehensible to us at first sight. It would look like miracle technology, doing things well beyond our scientific imagination.
How could we demonstrate the existence of alien tech?

Conclusive evidence must involve digital data collected by scientific instruments that demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt the existence of a technological object of non-human origin with characteristics that clearly deviate from human-made technologies.
The collection of digital data on UAP can be accelerated if we can build a device that is able to repeatedly and consistently summon a UAP of any type to close proximity.
Obviously, if the U.S. government or its contracted corporations have a physical sample of UAP technology, its meticulous scientific analysis can easily demonstrate that it is technology of alien (non-human) origin by virtue of its material composition, structural complexity or technological capabilities and functions.
In an interview tonight with Jesse Watters Primetime on Fox News, accessible here, I stated that it is my great privilege to assist the Trump administration in figuring out the nature of UAP.
I was tasked by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to chair the UAP Science Advisory Council in service of the White House, the Pentagon, the Intelligence Community and the FBI.
There are two possible interpretations of technological UAP: either they represent black projects of adversarial nations — in which case they are a serious concern for national security, or they represent alien tech — in which case they represent the biggest discovery ever made in science.
By revealing alien tech, the Trump administration could make history, get the Nobel Prize and be remembered for many millennia in the future of humanity. Both of the above possibilities about the nature of UAP are of great interest to all Americans.
Scientific-quality data can help us resolve the UAP mystery.
Thanks to President Trump’s directive to declassify UAP data, I find a new mindset within the U.S. government that could potentially lead to a breakthrough.
Our action plan has two parts:
(a) Look at the best available data within the U.S. government, including footage, materials or even intact alien spacecraft if David Grusch’s claims are correct.
If any of this data indicates conclusively the existence of alien tech, the case is solved. In the spirit of transparency, President Trump will then have the privilege of announcing the news to the American people.
(b) If the available data is inconclusive, we plan to collect new data with better sensors. This research will be done in partnership with the Pentagon.
If we find that all technological UAP have a human origin, I would still feel that my time was not wasted because I helped the Pentagon and the Intelligence Community fulfil their mission. This is my duty as an American citizen.
One of the people I met two days ago told me that he recently heard from an official at the highest level in the Pentagon that the U.S. is in possession of alien technology and related biological material. Access to such materials will save time over the interpretation of fuzzy PURSUE videos.
If the UAP Science Advisory Council can gain access to these materials, our scientists could help determine their nature and explore whether any resulting technologies could strengthen American science, innovation, and national security.
Last weekend, Peter Skafish, Garry Nolan and I visited Lyn Lear and Peter Diamandis in Los Angeles and encouraged them to announce an XPRIZE with 10 million dollars awarded to whoever provides conclusive evidence for alien tech.
My hope is that the UAP XPRIZE incentive will either accelerate the related scientific search for alien tech or encourage anyone in possession of alien tech to come forward.
