How the fuck did the French think that Algeria could be an integral part of France without first subjugating Islam?
I suppose I am answering my own question, maybe, but maybe they were mindfucked by the anti-religious sentiments of the French Revolution? They just didn't take that shit seriously?
They could have just embraced the fact that they were all citizens of Rome and tossed out the foreign ideology from Arabia.
