NO PLAGUE, but the WHO is still looking for a problem where there is none.

Tedros Says Russia Not Giving W.H.O. ‘Full Picture’ of Suspected Plague Situation

Oct 8 2026

World Health Organization (W.H.O.) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus published a diplomatic statement on Thursday stating that his agency has no evidence of any outbreak of plague in northeastern Russia — but revealing that Moscow had been less forthcoming than appropriate and demanding more information.

Public health officials around the world were put on alert this week after news surfaced locally in Irkutsk, Siberia, that a worker at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute identified as 28-year-old Daria Shipilova died of a respiratory condition, allegedly after she had broken a test tube containing a live pathogen during her work hours. Russia’s top government health agency, Rospotrebnadzor, confirmed Shipilova’s death this week, but specified only that she suffered from a “pneumonia of unknown origin” and that testing did not find any pathogen active in her body compatible with those she was studying at the laboratory. It notably did not indicate whether it found any pathogen in her body at all, a critical piece of information Tedros appeared most interested in during his remarks on Thursday.

There is hope.

Meet The Pardoned Delete Mechanic Who Wants To Stop Your Car From Spying On You

Pardoned mechanic Matt Geouge has built a device that blocks vehicles from spying on their drivers, because in 2018 his fiancée realized investigators were following her. Now he braces for steep opposition from manufacturers as he unveils his new product.

—

Matt Geouge is building a device that blocks vehicles from spying on their drivers, because in 2018 his fiancée noticed grey Toyota Tacomas were following her.

Geouge had started a smalltime diesel operation in his mother’s garage in Hendersonville, North Carolina, his senior year of high school. As emissions systems on diesel trucks grew more constraining throughout the early 2000s, Geouge started writing “delete” software tunes that let trucks disobey the systems and regain their horsepower.

That got farmers’ and truckers’ rigs out of the emissions handicap, or “limp” mode. It also snowballed into a multi-million-dollar business and earned widespread renown for Geouge, at least in Ford aftermarket circles.

But Geouge’s work also landed him in the federal government’s crosshairs because deleting runs afoul of federal emissions laws.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency hit Geouge with a $4 million civil penalty in 2018, court documents say.

That was about when the grey SUVs started following Caroline Jackson, Geouge’s fiancée, the couple told Cowboy State Daily in separate interviews Friday.

No one believed Jackson for three months, she said.

—

In late autumn 2019, Geouge spent 20 hours of garage time dismantling and scouring his 2017 F350 for a GPS tracking device.

He found none.

But he found the “black box” telematics modem – standard in newer-model vehicles – the satellite radio antenna, and the GPS hardware. He ripped them out.

Jackson said she was able to ditch the grey SUVs after that.

Geouge stripped telematics devices from another of their couple’s vehicles, and the grey Toyotas fell away from that one too, he said.

Geouge reasoned that investigators were using his own vehicles’ data-transmitting hardware to track him and Jackson.

“I’m not going to say that’s total empirical evidence, but it’s pretty damn strong circumstantial evidence,” he said.

—

The hardest part for Geouge, said Jones, is to design and craft tiny connecting devices for each different vehicle model, and all the vehicle’s little modems, antennae, and systems.

When Jones switches off everything, using the switch Geouge put in his truck, the truck is as dumb and disconnected as its 1980s ancestors.
