My Identity Is Not Your Costume

Suella Braverman caused Britain's media class to crash out for a week, because she had the basic humility to admit that she isn't English.

Identity is not arbitrary. Ethnicity exists. The English are a people. You can no more change your ethnicity than you can change your sex. National identity is derived from ancestry. These are all facts, and no amount of name-calling or wishful thinking will change them.

If we cede ground on this issue, and say that anyone can be English, we forfeit the language required to describe what has been done to our country, and the ability to restore its demographic and cultural security. How can we reverse mass migration if every member of the Boriswave is as English as you and me?

We can't. They aren't. They don't need to be here. Recognising the difference between us and them is the prerequisite to sending them home. Which is why politicians and pundits are so desperate to insist that no such difference exists — despite recognising it themselves when politically expedient to identify as "ethnic minorities", and extract resources and special privileges from the white majority.

We're not playing this game anymore. You cannot become English. My identity is not your cosplay. The more that you insist that it is, the less likely we are to advocate that you stay here.
