Cornell University has come under fire over explicit sexual education materials promoting discussions of group sex, BDSM and drug-fueled encounters.
The Ivy League institution is continuing to reel from explosive gang-rape allegations involving seven fraternity members.
The prestigious New York university circulated a provocative sexual checklist that invited students to consider everything from having multiple sexual partners at once to engaging in intimate encounters after consuming alcohol or recreational drugs.
The controversial materials, produced by Cornell Health, have resurfaced amid growing outrage over an alleged ketamine-fueled sexual assault at the university's Chi Phi fraternity house in October 2024.
The documents were intended to encourage conversations about sexual preferences and boundaries, according to Cornell, but critics argue their explicit content sends a troubling message to impressionable students.
Those critics are now questioning whether the university's approach to sexual education has blurred boundaries surrounding consent, although there is no evidence the materials played any role in the alleged assault.
Among the documents attracting scrutiny is a 2019 worksheet titled 'Yes, No, Maybe So: A Sexual Inventory Stocklist,' which asks participants to indicate their interest in a wide range of sexual activities.
Its explicit suggestions include 'Sex of some kind(s) with three partners at a time' and 'Sex of some kind(s) with more than three partners at a time.'
Another entry invites consideration of 'Some kind of casual or occasional open/non-exclusive sexual relationship.'
The checklist also includes 'Initiating or having sex while or after I have been drinking alcohol or other recreational drugs.'
That particular entry has attracted attention because of allegations that a Cornell student was sexually assaulted after consuming alcohol and ketamine at a fraternity party.
Other Cornell Health materials include a worksheet titled 'Sexual Pleasure: Finding the Sweet Spot,' which addresses BDSM, fetish equipment and sex toys.
A separate guide, 'Sensate Focus,' discusses physical intimacy and mutual touching.
According to an archived Cornell sexual health campaign website obtained by the New York Post, resident advisers were encouraged to display the educational materials on bulletin boards in student dormitories until April…
