Entergy Louisiana CEO lets it slip on Meta's electricity demands

By Nolan Mckendry | The Center Square Oct 7, 2026

(The Center Square) — Entergy Louisiana CEO Phillip May accidentally disclosed Tuesday that Meta’s Richland Parish data center is expected to draw 4,500 megawatts of electricity, revealing for the first time a closely guarded figure that shows the extraordinary scale of the project’s power demand.

For perspective, 4,500 MW is about four times the peak electricity demand of the entire city of New Orleans.

May seemed to realize his error, as did the audience and the attorney questioning him. “I won’t make you say it again,” an attorney for the Union of Concerned Scientists responded.

Neither Entergy or Meta had ever disclosed the size of the load addition. Meta and Entergy have treated the data center’s projected electrical demand as confidential, arguing that details about the facility’s power needs constitute commercially sensitive information.

And according to May, Meta expects to use close to that amount almost continuously.

The exchange came as May defended billions of dollars in new generation and transmission infrastructure Entergy plans to build largely to serve Meta’s Richland Parish data center.

Attorneys for the Union of Concerned Scientists, Alliance for Affordable Energy and Louisiana Energy Users Group pressed May on whether Entergy has adequately examined the financial risks of making such enormous investments around a single customer — and whether other ratepayers could eventually be left paying for them.

Entergy argues its agreement with Meta is structured to prevent that.

May testified that Meta’s payments are designed to exceed the actual revenue requirements associated with infrastructure needed to serve the company. If Entergy’s costs rise, Meta pays more; if they fall, Meta pays less, he said.

"No other customer in our 100-year history has ever committed to such a generous package of benefits for our customers, along with protections that ensure that our customers get those benefits," May said of Meta.

Ex-Fox News Host Says Network’s Kimberly Guilfoyle ‘Omission’ Is ‘Coming From the Top’

David Gilmour

Oct 12th, 2026, 7:04 am

Ex-Fox News host Gretchen Carlsonpiled on after a former executive accused the network of failing to aggressively cover the mounting scandal surrounding U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, as she claimed the decision was made “from the top.”

Carlson, who spent more than a decade at Fox before leaving the network in 2016, weighed in after former Fox News vice president Ken LaCorte accused his old employer of “journalistic malpractice” over what he alleged was sparse coverage of the Guilfoyle story, blaming frightened middle management.

“As someone who was also at Fox for more than a decade I can tell you that Fox’s omission of this story from their show rundowns is not middle management fearful — it is [100%] coming from the top,” Carlson wrote on X.

Notably, Mediaite’s Sean Jamesreported that Fox did air a brief report on the controversy Thursday, more than a day after the first major Journal story broke, and published a fuller article on Sunday reporting that Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were weighing Guilfoyle’s removal.

Carlson’s intervention, however, has sharpened an extraordinary public dispute among former Fox veterans over how the network handled a damaging story involving one of its own former stars and a prominent figure in President Donald Trump’s orbit.

LaCorte had argued Sunday that “fear and inaction” among managers explained what he described as Fox’s decision to largely ignore allegations already being reported by other major outlets.

“To be clear, this isn’t a simple ‘mistake’ by Fox,” he wrote. “It’s a conscious choice to ignore a major story that has been reported worldwide by every major news outlet.”

Lacorte was ousted from Fox News in 2016 amid languishing traffic of the website he oversaw. A person familiar with the inner workings of Fox News told Mediaite, “When Ken ran FoxNews.com circa 2016, it was languishing with 17 million unique [visitors per month].” A site overhaul soon after Lacorte’s departure led to a traffic explosion, as Foxnews.com now garners approximately 163 million multiplatform uniques per month.

The controversy stems from a series of Wall Street Journal reports detailing allegations about Guilfoyle’s conduct as ambassador, including messages in which she allegedly asked Trump donor Eric Deters to put $100,000 toward her American Express card bill while offering to help him gain access to administration officials. Her attorney has disputed the authenticity of the messages.

The Journal later reported that Guilfoyle promoted the interests of wealthy business figures while serving in Greece, helping fuel discussions inside the Trump administration about whether she should remain in her post.

Furious President Trump is 'extremely p****d off' with Kimberly Guilfoyle and is considering firing her over her wild antics in Greece

20:54 EDT 11 Oct 2026, updated 08:08 EDT 12 Oct 2026 By JAMES GORDON, US NEWS REPORTER and ASSOCIATED

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are considering firing US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle after a series of reports alleging she has engaged in improper and possibly illegal conduct before and during her tenure in Athens.

A senior US official said on Sunday that Trump and Rubio are 'extremely pissed off' by Guilfoyle's reported conduct andwould likely decide on what action to take this week after Monday's Columbus Day holiday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, saidRubio had been particularly angry, not least because he visited Athens just last week and Guilfoyle attended most, if not all, of his events and greeted him on his arrival with a bear hug as the allegations swirled.

In a series of stories, The Wall Street Journal has reported questionable conduct by Guilfoyle, including an alleged threat to a host country official, accepting improper gifts and services and offering to use her influence inside the administration in return for the payment of a large credit card bill.

Guilfoyle has not addressed the reports directly, although her lawyer has said she did nothing wrong and the US Embassy in Athens has tacitly expressed support for her.

After defending Guilfoyle following the first report, Rubio has declined to comment publicly on the growing allegations.

On Wednesday, Rubio said: 'Our ambassador has been a strong ambassador here.'

But after another report appeared late Wednesday, Rubio on Thursday before leaving Athens berated journalists for asking about the allegations, saying he didn't know if they were true and that he would not respond if he could not confirm them.

Nato chief warns his forces will destroy 'anything and everything' if Putin is 'foolish enough' to attack alliance territory. 1/2

04:41 EDT 12 Oct 2026, updated IMOGEN GARFINKEL - SENIOR

(Russia has said a million times they never had any plan to fight Europe, it’s a big fricking farce!)

Nato's top commander has warned that his forces would destroy 'anything and everything' if Moscow was 'foolish enough' to launch an assault on alliance territory.

Outlining his 'theory of victory' at a security conference in Warsaw, US Air Force General Alexus Grynkewich said Nato was a defensive alliance but it would block, blunt and break any attack against any of its members to ensure the assault proved 'utterly futile'.

General Grynkewich, Nato's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, made his remarks at a time of rising tension between European nations and Russia.

European governments have accused Moscow of stepping up a campaign of sabotage, drone incursions and cyberattacks against them and Russia warned last month it would use nuclear weapons if Nato attempted to cut off its exclave of Kaliningrad.

In his speech to the Warsaw Security Forum, General Grynkewich did not mention Russia by name but his message was clearly directed at Moscow.

Nato's 2022 Strategic Concept describes Russia as the most significant threat to the alliance's security.

'If someone is foolish enough to attack us, we will fight,' he said. 'We will stop the attack and deny them the ability to achieve their objectives, whatever those might be. We will, in short, ensure any attack, against any ally, proves utterly futile.'

General Grynkewich issued a clear message to Moscow that, if necessary, this would involve massive retaliation, striking far beyond the forces in the area under attack.

General Grynkewich issued a clear message to Moscow that, if necessary, this would involve massive retaliation, striking far beyond the forces in the area under attack.

'Should the adversary choose to press the attack or commit his reserves, we will break the warfighting system engaged against us,' he said.

'This includes not just the attacking force itself, but anything and everything that supports, sustains, and controls that force.'

It comes after Poland's foreign minister called on Nato to prepare for a deadly Russian hybrid attack amid the Kremlin's intensifying sabotage campaign on European soil.

Radosław Sikorski told the FT that the probability of someone being killed was growing as Moscow multiplied its operations to disrupt and destabilise European societies.

But he admitted the alliance would have to make a 'judgment' on how to retaliate.

'The question is what constitutes an attack, a cross-border attack, and as long as it’s property… it’s one thing, but if people start dying, then we’ll have to have another very serious conversation at NATO,' he said.

'When will we make a judgment that the Russians have come too far? Because it is a judgment. You know, there is no agreed prior definition.'

Mr Sikorski declined to elaborate on how the Western alliance should retaliate for a fatality but noted Poland and Estonia invoked Nato's Article 4 – a request for high-level consultations – after airspace incursions by Russian drones and fighter jets, implying it would need to do more.

Article 5 – the mutual defence clause – states that if a Nato ally sustains an armed attack, every other member of the alliance will consider this as an armed attack against all members, and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the attacked ally.

Nato's Article 5 has been triggered only once, by the US, after the September 11 2001 terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda.

Poland and its neighbours have been concerned by the growing number of cyber attacks, airspace violations and sabotage attempts against European countries which they consider part of Vladimir Putin's campaign to undermine support for Ukraine.

In July, a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile crashed into a field and exploded in eastern Poland, leaving a 10m-wide (33ft) crater a short distance from the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia.

Now, senior executives at European defence companies are being targeted for assassination by Russian operatives, according to officials from five European intelligence agencies who spoke to the FT.

Executives at smaller companies - especially those involved in the manufacturing of drones or their components - are also at risk.

German intelligence services have recently warned the Kremlin's 'shadow war' was beginning a new, potentially fatal phase.

Berlin last month said Moscow orchestrated a drone attack on Leipzig/Halle airport, close to Ukrainian cargo planes, in August.

The explosive device failed to explode as the detonator was apparently faulty, and investigators suspect a second drone collided with a cargo aircraft nearby.

Ten days later, a third drone was reportedly found near the airport.

Mr Sikorski called on European nations to respond to attacks attributed to Moscow by closing down Russian consulates, preventing Kremlin diplomats from travelling freely across the countries of assignment and reducing the number of Russian diplomats altogether, as Poland has done.

'I’ve run out of consulates, but others still have consulates,' he said.

Mr Sikorski added that all Russians entering the EU should be required to have a biometric passport to prevent operatives from travelling on false identities.

The minister also supported calls for a reduction in the number of EU tourist visas issued to Russians.

Last year, nearly 500,000 were issued.

'While we watch these videos of bridges in Kyiv being firebombed and… dead children being dragged out of apartment blocks, to hear of Russian tourists throwing around their wealth [in Europe] - it jars with me,' he said.

According to German investigators, one of the men responsible for the Leipzig/Halle airport attack on August 4 was a Belarusian with a Russian passport who entered the country on a tourist visa.

In a meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, EU foreign ministers are holding talks regarding bloc-wide restrictions on the movement of Russian diplomats and possible tourist visa restrictions.

Mr Sikorski called on all other EU nations 'for their own sake' to call out Russian responsibility for hybrid warfare tactics when they had sufficient evidence.

Asked why some countries may be reluctant to do so, he said: 'I don’t want to comment on others. Everybody has politics.'

Mr Sikorski said he would lobby the UK Government to invite Poland to the G20 summit in Manchester next year in exchange for Warsaw’s support for a British rapprochement with the EU.

In December, the UK takes over the presidency of the G20 group of leading economies from the United States.

Poland would stand behind British efforts to get closer to the bloc.

'We think the EU was better and would be better with Britain in it,' he said.

'=And we ask for reciprocity in getting us into the G20 because we think that what we’ve achieved [in economic development] over the last 30 years demands recognition.'==
