Actually looks like a simple lens flare. notice how the "beam" lines up with the sun out of the frame?

Albany, Syracuse, both hit by good cells. They look tall and most pilots would divert.

I commonly get lens flare when the sun is just outside my frame of view. usually a 6 pointed straight beamed star. its common due to the lens material, and physics.
I would say bad weather all over the eastern seaboard. the Storm is here!
