That might be why freeing the slaves was the high IQ idea because the Romans and Ottomans collapsed because they could only go so far until the slave population out numbers the their own soldiers. Then most the soldiers have children with the slave women so there is a conflict of interest. If you free the slaves now most of the previous slaves will fight for you because the are already free and have children with your soldiers already anyways.
If your slaves see the guy is weak and their resources spread thin, that's when the slaves hop in like lightning.
