A-CARINID METEOR OUTBURST

2026 October 16

Red dots are the Orionids, blue dots are the Taurids meteor showers.

The outburst is ongoing with meteors visible to the naked eye and a Zenith Hourly Rate of about 10 meteors/hour on Oct. 16 at 2h UTC.

The peak rate appears to have been between 9h and 17h on 2026 Oct. 15. This Jupiter-family comet shower was in outburst previously in 2014 and 2019/2020 (cf. CBET 4867), suggesting a 6-year periodicity.

This suggests that the outbursts are due to a resonant filament of meteoroids in the 2:1 mean-motion resonance with Jupiter.

NASA Names Stephen Cash Marshall Space Flight Center Director

Oct 16, 2026

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman has named Stephen Cash director of the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, effective Monday, Oct. 19.

Cash, a veteran NASA engineer and aerospace executive, returns to lead the center where he began his career more than four decades ago.

“Marshall contributions to NASA’s missions are historic and it’s no question why it’s the Center of Excellence for propulsion,” said Isaacman.

“Steve Cash is a Marshall legend, has spent his career around the hardware, the people and has been in the seat before making the decisions when human spaceflight is on the line.

As Marshall continues its critical role in Artemis and takes on new challenges in advanced propulsion, nuclear power, and the systems that will carry us deeper into the solar system, Steve brings the experience, technical judgment, and mission focus needed to lead the center into that next chapter.

I am also grateful to Rae Ann Meyer for the leadership she has provided to Marshall during this transition and for her continued service to NASA.”

“Leading a NASA center requires a commitment to its people and to the technical capabilities entrusted to them,” said Amit Kshatriya, NASA associate administrator and chief engineer.

“Steve understands that the jewel of Marshall is its workforce and that engineering excellence is sustained by giving talented people the opportunity to design, build, test, and learn through hands-on work.

As Marshall continues strengthening the manufacturing, structural loads and dynamics, and propulsion capabilities that underpin NASA’s exploration enterprise, Steve’s leadership will help ensure the workforce has opportunities to develop and apply the expertise needed to deliver the agency’s most ambitious missions.”

As center director, Cash will lead one of NASA’s largest field centers, overseeing a workforce of more than 5,000 civil service and contractor employees and a broad portfolio of propulsion, space systems, scientific research, and technology development activities.

Marshall plays a critical role in NASA’s Artemis program, including the development of NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket, management of the Human Landing System Program, as well as other capabilities supporting sustained exploration of the Moon and future missions to Mars.

Further, Marshall plays a key role in the advancement of nuclear power and propulsion, an area of focus that is expected to grow as NASA works towards sending the first humans to Mars.

“It is a profound honor to be back home at the Marshall Space Flight Center,” said Cash. “I am humbled to stand alongside the brilliant minds here as we continue to turn the impossible into everyday history.”

Cash began his NASA career at Marshall in 1982 and spent 34 years with the agency, holding senior engineering and management positions supporting some of the nation’s most significant human spaceflight programs.

During his NASA career, Cash served as manager of Marshall’s Space Shuttle Propulsion Office, overseeing critical propulsion systems supporting shuttle through its final missions.

He later served as director of Marshall’s Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate from 2011 until his retirement in 2016, providing leadership in safety, reliability, and quality engineering to support mission success across the center.

Following his retirement from NASA, Cash continued his work in the aerospace industry, including serving as vice president for advanced space systems at Axient, supporting the development and execution of major spaceflight programs.

In 2024, he was inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to engineering and the nation’s space program.

Cash succeeds Rae Ann Meyer, who has served as Marshall’s acting center director since September 2025.

Meyer, who previously served as Marshall’s deputy center director and associate director, has provided leadership and continuity across the center’s programs and operations during her tenure as acting director. Meyer will return to her role as Deputy Center Director.

Scientists Puzzled as James Webb Detects Signal From Completely Empty Void in Space

Oct 17, 2026 8:51 AM

Using the NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, a team of researchers led by University of Minnesota astrophysicist Mason Huberty had a closer look at a group of almost 10,000 galaxies spanning billions of light-years in the Fornax constellation.

As detailed in a new paper published in The Astrophysical Journal, they honed in on a small space in the region that they thought was entirely unoccupied.

But to their astonishment, they observed a single emission line emanating from it — twice over a span of just three months.

Emission lines are bright, narrow bands of light emitted at a specific wavelength by distant celestial objects and other phenomena. Puzzlingly, prior observations from the same region didn’t feature the same reading.

Put simply, the JWST stared into the abyss — and the abyss stared back.

Instead of hunting down already known objects, Huberty and his colleagues tried to use the James Webb’s Near-Infrared Spectrograph to uncover new ones, as Science Alert explains.

The team examined what they thought was an empty region twice, in August and November 2023, at different angles to rule out any artifacts.

Out of seven total detections of emissions in the region, one stood out because they couldn’t match it to a distant galaxy.

It also stood out as the only near-infrared emission without any other accompanying emission lines near it. It should’ve also shown up in earlier James Webb observations since it’s technically bright enough — but didn’t.

The astronomers offered several possible explanations, none of which “provide a fully satisfactory explanation,” according to their paper.

The emission line may have been produced by a galaxy dating back to the earliest days of the Universe. It could’ve also come from a younger galaxy or a supernova, both of which are usually accompanied by other emission lines.

Finally, the researchers propose that it could’ve been the result of a black hole devouring a star — a guess that would require plenty of other data to confirm.

“Follow-up observations are essential to confirm the redshift and determine the physical origin of the emission,” the team concluded in their paper.

“Deeper, more sensitive spectroscopy could reveal additional emission lines and definitively establish the redshift and nature of the source.”

Wales defies Trump over space base

17 October 2026 7:06pm BST

Plaid Cymru accused of ‘viewing US as the enemy’ as it blocks radar project in Pembrokeshire

Ministers are angry that the Welsh Government is blocking a space defence project backed by Donald Trump, The Telegraph can reveal.

Plaid Cymru’s “ideological” opposition to a critical radar station in Pembrokeshire could derail a defence initiative signed by Britain, the United States and Australia.

The party opposes the project because it sees the US as an “enemy”, a Labour source has claimed.

The impasse over the joint defence initiative threatens a rift with the White House, amid already deteriorating US-UK relations, with the US withdrawing its bomber jets from RAF Fairford last month over fears of an Iran-backed plot.

In 2023, Britain, the US and Australia signed an agreement to create the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (Darc) programme which was aimed at boosting “global security” and tackling space threats from hostile states such as China and Russia.

Cawdor Barracks in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, was earmarked as the site for a long-range satellite-tracking radar station.

Ministry of Defence (MoD) officials said the Pembrokeshire site was “crucial” to the project’s success, because along with sister sites in the US and Australia, it would give “360 degree coverage” of the sky.

But senior figures in Plaid Cymru, the Welsh nationalist party, have long campaigned against the project.

In July, the Welsh Government called in the planning application for Darc, citing concern about the potential effect of the development on the “irreplaceable habitat” of grassland fungi as well as its “visual impact”.

Another factor highlighted by Welsh ministers was concern that the development would lead to the site becoming a “military target”.

One Labour source told The Telegraph that the Welsh Government’s decision to call in the planning application stemmed from Plaid Cymru’s “ideological” and “crazy” decision to position itself as “anti-American”, and its view of the US as the “enemy”.

The source said the argument that Darc would put Wales in danger of becoming a “target” was particularly bizarre, given that the project would lead to greater protection for the UK.

They accused the Welsh Government of “sitting on” the planning application, slowing the project.

MoD officials are urgently trying to resolve the impasse. They point out that Darc will help protect essential satellite services that underpin 20 per cent of the UK’s national economic activity, and will be operated by British staff.

They also argue that the proposed redevelopment of Cawdor Barracks will support long-term civilian jobs in Pembrokeshire as well as future defence capability.

Defence, national security and foreign policy are all reserved powers, meaning the Government has jurisdiction over these matters.

But planning powers are devolved, which allows the Welsh Senedd to intervene by “calling in” an application, meaning the decision to grant permission is stripped from a local authority and put into the hands of an independent inspector.

‘Welsh Government has created uncertainty’

Henry Tufnell, the Labour MP for Pembrokeshire, accused the Welsh Government of “taking the decision out of the hands of the local authority” and in doing so “denying the local community the right to have their say over whether it would go ahead”.

He told The Telegraph: “It is denying the local knowledge, cultural history and association with defence.

“In Pembrokeshire, defence has always been part of our history and we have always played our part in the national story.

“We have been proud to do that. We had the Cawdor Barracks, we had the Pembroke Dock naval shipyard and the Castlemartin firing range.”

He said the Welsh Government had created uncertainty around the project, which he said was frustrating, given that it would be a significant boost for the local economy and jobs in Pembrokeshire.

Cawdor Barracks had been set to close by 2028, but the redevelopment of the site for Darc would keep it open with 100 jobs expected to be created.

The Welsh Government has been stepping up its anti-defence rhetoric in recent weeks, which has caused considerable concern in Whitehall.

Last month, Adam Price, a Welsh Cabinet minister, announced to the Senedd that he was setting up an “ethical framework” to govern the Welsh Government’s “engagement with the defence sector”.

Mr Price said that while defence played a “legitimate role” in “protecting democratic societies”, support for the sector “cannot, however, be unconditional” and Welsh Government support “should be governed by clear and credible ethical principles”.

An MoD spokesman said: “Darc is critical to the UK’s national resilience and security. The MoD’s planning application has been produced in compliance with all applicable UK and devolved legislative requirements.

“We continue to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to support the planning application process in Wales.”

Officials at the MoD said their planning application was supported by a “comprehensive” environmental impact assessment and environmental statement, including a landscape and visual impact assessment.

The Welsh Government said: “The power to call in a planning application rests with the Welsh Government and is a matter of planning policy, not defence policy.”

It said the application would be considered by an independent planning inspector who would submit a report on the case to Welsh ministers “in due course”.

What’s Up With That Russian Spacecraft Closing in on Finland Radar Satellite?

October 17th, 2026

Russia’s Cosmos-2612 satellite has made a series of maneuvers that have made it almost perfectly co-planar with the radar satellite ICEYE-X36.

ICEYE is natively European, founded in Finland.

Bart Hendrickx, a longtime observer of the Russian space program, reports that, in the past two days or so, the Russian spacecraft has made a further orbit adjustment. That change has now brought it in the immediate vicinity of the ICEYE satellite.

According to the latest TLE sets, the Russian satellite is now just about 0.932 miles (1.5 kilometers) from ICEYE and getting closer. A two-line element set (TLE) is a data format that provides the orbital parameters of a satellite.

War in Ukraine

Hendrickx notes that among duties, ICEYE satellites are used to provide intelligence data to Ukraine’s armed forces.

The ICEYE space firm owns the world’s largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation.

As explained on the ICEYE website, the war in Ukraine proved that satellite constellations are a core component of modern Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR).

“ICEYE systems are directly supporting strike planning and battlefield decisions across thousands of kilometers of frontline. Persistent, all-weather, and beyond the reach of electronic warfare.”

Russian forces liberate key Ukrainian stronghold in Donbass – MOD

16 Oct, 2026 19:43 | Updated 16 Oct, 2026 20:45

President Putin has praised the “coordinated and professional” actions of troops involved in capturing Dobropolye

Russian forces have liberated the key Ukrainian stronghold of Dobropolye in Donbass, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov has reported to President Vladimir Putin.

During a meeting on Friday, Gerasimov said assault units from several brigades had taken part in the operation and were searching basements for any remaining Ukrainian troops.

Putin praised the “coordinated and highly professional” actions of the Russian assault units, noting that Ukrainian forces had turned Dobropolye into a “robust stronghold.”

In late September, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces had encircled Dobropolye.

The town’s capture marks another step in Russia’s advance toward the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, a cluster of cities in northwestern DPR that forms Ukraine’s last major fortified stronghold in the region.

Thousands of drones in the sky: Moscow claims massive Ukrainian drone attack

Sat, October 17, 2026 - 18:00

Over the past week, Ukrainian forces launched several thousand attack drones toward Moscow and the surrounding region, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

Sobyanin claims that between October 10 and 17, Russian air defenses neutralized 2,730 Ukrainian drones heading "toward the Moscow region."

"Most of them were destroyed by air defense forces at long range. A total of 534 drones were neutralized as they approached Moscow," Sobyanin wrote.

He made the statement against the backdrop of another operational collapse at Moscow's major airports linked to drone attacks.

The Moscow mayor also claims that the number of drones shot down while heading toward the city increased every day.

Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry claims that more than 4,500 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian regions in total this week.

On the night of October 10, Russian air defense and electronic warfare forces allegedly neutralized 560 drones. By the end of the same day, they reported intercepting another 78 drones.

In the following days, Russia's Defense Ministry reported shooting down 591 drones on October 11, 184 on October 12, and 674 on October 13.

On the night of October 14, according to the Russian ministry, another 902 drones were intercepted.

On Wednesday, after Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that Ukrainian forces had attacked the Saratov and Ryazan oil refineries, Russia's Defense Ministry reported destroying 91 drones in those regions.

On October 15, Russian authorities announced the interception of 153 drones, followed by another 691 the next day.

On Saturday morning, Russian authorities reported shooting down another 610 Ukrainian drones.

Based on the figures published by Sobyanin, more than half of all Ukrainian drones that Russian authorities reported during this period were heading toward Moscow between October 10 and 17.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that three major Moscow airports had been out of operation for a second consecutive day.

In addition, it was recently reported that Ukraine had carried out one of its largest attacks on the Russian capital.

Netanyahu warns of 'campaign to smear Israel' after European diplomats attacked in West Bank

"We urge caution before drawing conclusions from today's reports that European diplomats were attacked by masked Israelis," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the incident in the West Bank, where a group of European diplomats claimed to have been attacked by Jewish settler extremists on Saturday, saying that "serious accusations require serious evidence."

"We urge caution before drawing conclusions from today's reports that European diplomats were attacked by masked Israelis in Judea and Samaria.

Any violence against diplomats is unacceptable. The more serious the accusation, the greater the demand for compelling evidence," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

The statement by Netanyahu also claimed that the reports come amid a "coordinated campaign to smear Israel and the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria during the annual olive harvest, relying on sensational headlines before the full facts emerge."

Iran-backed militias funnel money to IRGC amid economic crisis, CENTCOM commander Cooper says

Cooper said the financial pressure had become severe enough that Iran-aligned militias were reportedly withholding payments from their own fighters to funnel money back to the IRGC.

Iran-backed militias, including Hezbollah, Hamas, and militias in Iraq, have been redirecting money to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as Tehran faces mounting economic pressure after nine months of war, Axios reported Friday, citing US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Adm. Brad Cooper.

According to reporting from Axios, Cooper said the US naval blockade has cost Iran an estimated $25 billion in lost oil revenue. He added that CENTCOM and the US Treasury Department had also frozen $350 million in Iranian cryptocurrency assets in recent weeks.

Cooper said the financial pressure had become severe enough that Iran-aligned militias were reportedly withholding payments from their own fighters to funnel money back to the IRGC, which was also struggling to pay its troops.

"Let me be clear: The Strait of Hormuz is controlled by the United States and our regional partners, not Iran," Cooper said, adding, "It remains open for business."

“The Aliens Are Already Here”: 10 Women In Trump’s Circle Whose Before-And-After Photos Sparked “MAGA Face” Debate

Oct 14, 2026

Women associated with Donald Trump are often criticized for their conservative stances, which critics argue undermine their own gender’s rights and autonomy.

Their appearances, however, have recently sparked a separate conversation online under the label “MAGA face.”

Netizens use the term to describe a distinctive aesthetic characterized by exaggerated lips, sharply sculpted cheekbones, lifted eyelids, and seemingly expressionless visages.

People often attribute these features to plastic surgery and other cosmetic treatments.

To better understand the discourse around the trend, here are 10 before-and-after images of Trump’s associates whose looks have drawn particular attention.

#1 Barbera Thornhill

Barbara Thornhill sought a government position, but viral fame came as an unexpected bonus.

On October 13, 2025, the Trump administration formally welcomed the American business executive and philanthropist as the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

While her latest career leap should have sparked a discussion about her eligibility for the role and her potential to meet the State Department's expectations, attention stayed on her looks.

Thornhill quickly became part of the "MAGA face" conversation, with social media users comparing older pictures with more recent ones and speculating about fillers, Botox, and more.

No reliable public record confirms she has undergone any of the procedures, but that did little to discourage the commentary.

"They all actively make the choice to look like melted wax dolls," one widely shared reaction read.

Another commenter took a more personal approach, writing, "people with this much self-loathing shouldn’t have positions of power over people who aren’t miserable with themselves."

#2 Susan Dell

Susan Dell entered the Trump circle's public spotlight on October 7, when she appeared alongside her husband, Michael Dell, in the Oval Office to promote their $6.25 billion pledge to the Trump Accounts program.

The initiative encourages American families to register for savings accounts established under the president’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Rather than focusing on the philanthropic announcement, though, many social media users focused on how Susan looked.

Comparing her with older photographs, some commentators claimed she “aged like milk” and definitely “not naturally.”

The chatter subsequently drew a comment from an aesthetic expert.

Mirror US consulted Dr. Ross Perry, medical director of Cosmedics Skin Clinics, about possible explanations for the differences people noticed in Susan's appearance.

Perry offered his assessment, saying, "There's a possibility she may have undergone a full facelift, and the skin around the jawline and mid-face appears lifted."

He also raised the possibility of an upper blepharoplasty, a surgical procedure involving the upper eyelids that can make the eyes appear more open and refreshed.

The doctor, however, emphasized that photographs alone cannot establish whether someone has undergone cosmetic procedures, urging people to consider factors such as "lighting, makeup, camera angles, weight loss or even temporary swelling" before drawing conclusions.

People proved less generous, though, and kept mocking Susan.

"The aliens are already here," one remarked.

"Is she from the Capitol Hills in Hunger Games?" another asked.

The Hunger Games comparison gained significant traction because it evoked the franchise's exaggerated portrayal of wealth and privilege.

In the films, the Capitol's elite sport elaborate makeup, surgically enhanced features, and theatrical fashion while ordinary people struggle to survive.

#3 Laura Perlmutter

Laura Perlmutter is the wife of former Marvel Entertainment chairman Isaac Perlmutter, a prominent Republican donor.

Her connection to Trump comes through the cultural sphere.

She serves on the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, one of the institutions Trump moved to reshape after returning to office.

Laura was seen attending a meeting to discuss the proposal to add Trump’s name to the institution.

The reactions to her appearance were far from flattering.

"Are we sure it's not an allergic reaction?" one person asked.

Another suggested that people seeking to maintain a youthful appearance should stick to "sunscreen, retinol and acceptance" rather than spend money on procedures that could leave them looking unrecognizable.

A third commenter turned the criticism inward, reflecting on how the images had changed their perspective on their own appearance.

"The upside of all these people doing this to themselves is that I've learned to be more loving towards my own flaws like double chin," the user wrote. "Like at least I look like a human being."

#4 Kimberly Guilfoyle

Few women have become as closely associated with the "MAGA face" conversation as Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Her path into Trump's circle has been long and public. She worked as a prosecutor, Fox News personality, and model, and has served as a political fundraiser. She was also previously engaged to Donald Trump Jr.

In 2025, Trump appointed her U.S. ambassador to Greece, giving her an official diplomatic role.

At the time, a photograph of Guilfoyle standing beside the president in a black dress circulated widely.

Viewers contrasted her current appearance with older photos, noting what they described as a bronzed complexion, voluminous hair, and a thinner frame.

Speculation about plastic surgery soon followed, with some users questioning why wealthy people appeared to look less attractive after spending money on looking pretty.

"Hard to believe she paid someone to make her look like that," one commenter wrote.

"First thought to mind, 'Vampire,'" another added.

#5 Teresa Giudice

Teresa Giudice first crossed paths with Trump as a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice, and has since become one of his most outspoken supporters.

She endorsed him in 2016 and later attended several charity events hosted by his son Eric Trump.

That visibility also brought appearance-based insults, with Giudice’s lips drawing specific scrutiny.

One netizen recently used her as an example while urging others to "Stop f**king with your lips."

Another commenter was even harsher, writing that she looked like a "blob fish."

Although Giudice has never held an administrative position or formal board seat under Trump, her longstanding support has kept her associated with him.

#6 Andrea Wynn

Andrea Wynn moves in the same wealthy political circles as Perlmutter.

Her husband, casino tycoon Steve Wynn, is a prominent Republican donor.

The couple donated $1.5 million to Trump's 2020 campaign, and Andrea was appointed a trustee of the Kennedy Center in 2025.

A meeting concerning the institution's proposed renaming took place at Andrea and Steve's home.

Around the same time, her unnatural look drew online attention, with scrutiny resurfacing more recently amid the discussion surrounding Susan Dell.

"If you enjoyed the horrors of Susan Dell, may I reintroduce you to the Kennedy Center board," a Reddit user wrote alongside Andrea's picture.

"These people are literally mutants and monsters that snuck onto this earth," one commenter wrote in response.

“Real life ghouls," added another.

#7 Laura Loomer

Laura Loomer's relationship with Trump is unusual because she is believed to wield influence without holding an official position.

She is not employed by the president in any formal capacity, yet has frequently been described as one of his trusted advisers.

She is also among the women in his political orbit who have publicly discussed undergoing cosmetic work.

In 2017, Loomer announced her rhinoplasty on Instagram, writing, "I'm so excited for my nose job," and describing the procedure as "life-changing."

However, discussions about her appearance have often been unkind.

"She looks a lot like '80s actor Robert Z'Dar," one Redditor wrote, referencing the actor's distinctive facial features and his condition, cherubism.

Another compared her appearance to a caricature, writing, "She looks like a cartoon you get drawn by some guy on the beach."

#8 Jeanine Pirro

Trump appointed the former Fox News host, judge, and prosecutor as interim U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., in May 2025.

The Senate subsequently confirmed her as the district's top federal prosecutor, giving her oversight of one of the country's most powerful prosecution offices.

Her powerful professional standing, however, did little to shield her from criticism of her appearance.

One user mocked what they saw as her excessive makeup use, saying, "she probably has to take it off at night with a shovel."

Another suggested that her look was so over-the-top that "it would scare the children."

Pirro has become a prominent figure in Trump's crime crackdown in Washington, embracing an aggressive approach to street crime and federal law enforcement.

#9 Cheryl Hines

Cheryl Hines's connection to the president came through marriage rather than a direct political alliance.

The actress, best known for her role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who became Trump's secretary of Health and Human Services in February 2025.

Hines, who spent years navigating public scrutiny over her husband's controversial political positions, also faced renewed attention over her appearance after his appointment.

People compared recent photographs with images from her Hollywood years, with some claiming that she looked unrecognizable.

"She looked better before. Who's that? Looks nothing like her," one person commented.

"She looks like an aged Barbie doll," another added.

Hines, for her part, has been candid about her views on cosmetic procedures.

As far back as 2009, the actress expressed an accepting attitude toward such choices, saying, "If it makes you happy, do it. I don't care. Whatever works."

#10 Siggy Flicker

Siggy Flicker's connection to Donald Trump began in 2016, when the Real Housewives of New Jersey star publicly backed his first presidential campaign.

She later revealed that she had voted for him after years of supporting Democrats.

The pair grew closer through dinners, Mar-a-Lago gatherings, and trips aboard his private plane.

As Flicker became increasingly visible in Trump's political orbit, her appearance attracted ample internet attention.

One critic took a swipe at her looks, writing that she appeared “stone-faced.”

This led another to call her "more soggy than Siggy."

Flicker has served as a spokesperson for JEXIT, a group encouraging Jewish voters to leave the Democratic Party and support Trump since 2020.

She made headlines in September 2023, when Trump shared a Rosh Hashanah graphic she had created criticizing "liberal Jews."

Defending him amid the ensuing backlash, Flicker said, "Donald Trump is not an antisemite. Donald Trump is a lover of the Jewish people and the State of Israel."

On May 7, 2025, Trump appointed Flicker to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, formalizing her place among his political allies.
