Monday the 19th the vote in Alberta about the start of leaving Canada takes place. Ottawa will be doing everything possible to make sure Alberta stays. Without the "equalization payments" to prop up non-productive Provinces the Commonwealth will fall apart

Community Impact: The fire has affected military personnel andhas disrupted advance votingfor an upcoming referendum in Alberta

Monday the 19th is the big day, Albertans are voting on a referendum to begin the process of leaving Canada and becoming independent. Ottawa cannot afford to lose Alberta as the source of "equalization payments" where wealth is "redistributed" from Alberta to other Provinces that are far less productive. Then there's the other so-called projects in the works that are basically consultants talking among themselves and with "First Nations" people making sure they get a piece of the pie. IIRC there's three projects that have gone on for years but as of yet no ground has been broken

Deadly fire breaks out after ‘serious incident’ at Canada military base

By Jessie Yeung Updated 59 minutes ago

A major fire caused deaths and injuries at one of Canada’s busiest military bases on Saturday, sparked by an unspecified “serious incident,” with authorities still working to contain the blaze.

The fire began at the base in Wainwright, a town in eastern Alberta province, according to officials, and “spread rapidly due to high winds,” said the municipal district in a Facebook post Saturday evening. A call for assistance came around 4 p.m., according to the Wainwright Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Defense Minister David McGuinty said in a video statement “that there have been both fatalities and injuries as a result of an incident on the base.”

He did not provide details about the number of casualties or what caused the initial blaze, but called it an “active and delicate situation.” The fire is still “underway on the ground,” and an investigation will be launched soon, he added.

CFB Wainwright, located about 210 kilometers (130 miles) southeast of provincial capital Edmonton, is one of the country’s busiest Army bases, according to a government website. It houses the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre and the 3rd Canadian Division Training Centre; it’s also a training ground for Army field force units based in Edmonton.

Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed the fire had stemmed from “a serious incident,” without specifying details.

CNN has reached out to the military base, the Wainwright fire department, the Alberta premier’s office, and the municipal district for more details.

The Canadian Armed Forces, the federal government, provincial and local authorities are cooperating “to mobilize all necessary support, and working through the details of what actually occurred,” McGuinty said.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith called the disaster “significant and tragic,” saying it was “affecting many of our brave military personnel.”

No evacuation order has been issued. Authorities have asked residents to avoid the incident area, keep roads clear, and avoid visiting the Wainwright Health Center except for critical medical needs.

“I cannot recall such an incident in my short time for sure as a minister … I cannot recall an incident like this in recent memory,” McGuinty said in the video statement, responding to a journalist’s question.

Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre also wrote in a post that he had spoken to McGuinty and Carney about the fire, thanked emergency responders, and added: “Pray for Wainwright, everyone.”

EDMONTON, Alberta — Canada’s defense minister said Saturday that people were killed and injured in an incident at a military base in Alberta that caused a major fire.

“I’m saddened to share that there have been both fatalities and injuries as a result of an incident on the base,” Defense Minister David McGuinty said.

McGuinty did not provide casualty figures or details about what caused the incident. He said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were involved in the investigation and described the situation as “very, very active and delicate.”

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said officers were called shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday following reports of a fire in a training area at the base.

The Canadian Armed Forces and federal, provincial and local authorities were coordinating the emergency response, he said. The nearby community of Wainwright was providing hospital and firefighting support.

The Municipal District of Wainwright said the fire had crossed the military base’s perimeter fence and was spreading rapidly in high winds. Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions were responding, and no evacuation order was in effect.

The fire disrupted advance voting ahead of Monday’s referendum on whether Alberta should begin a process that could lead to independence from Canada. Elections Alberta said two polling locations, in Lloydminster and Vermilion, closed early Saturday and the ballots were transported securely.

I'll say it again:

Independence for Alberta means the collapse of the liberal government of Canada. Alberta is the ATM machine for the country. Ottawa will do anything to keep Albertan funds coming in and killing people for it I have no doubt they would

The vote is a huge deal. I say again, Ottawa uses Alberta as an ATM to fund basically everything

>>25152966

I'm thinking not civil war. Albertans want to go peaceful. Also notice nothing out there about RCMP stations getting hit

This bit from BBC:

Saskatchewan premier Scott Moe says he has deployed resources to Alberta and is "ready to provide more if required", while British Columbia premier David Eby says his government has "reached out to Alberta to offer all possible assistance".

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr86z0w4lxdxo

Doesn't seem much more than offering a helping hand right?

David Eby did a FAFO where he's decided to call a snap election to try to consolidate his and his party's power but it has been backfiring "bigly" so now he has to look like a hero and a good leader. Please bear in mind the latest carrot dangled to Alberta is about a pipeline for oil to go to British Columbia for sale to Asia (China mostly) but the pipeline is going once again into the hands of consultants and will not even try for a final go ahead and look for funding until September of 2027 at the earliest. There's youtubers out there that are Canadians and calling it out for being just a ploy to keep Alberta on the plantation

Nah, canteens full of Labatts and take Manitoba because their premeire is a failed rapper and arrogant dickhead. Then dare Ottawa to come try to take it back. Ottawa cries for NATO so France tells then way too busy, UK says we would if we had any real army or sealift capability and just for fun Putin calls up Carney and says hang on, will fuel those giant hovercraft and come over the Pole. Pants shitting in Ottawa, pants shitting in Brussels and the icing on the cake is generous Americans come up to greet the Russian troops with hot cocoa to wash down the Pop Tarts that PDJT sends
