"Bards of War: Fighting Is Everything is a documentary film by Scott Kesterson that chronicles Operation Mountain Thrust in July 2006 during the Afghanistan War. Kesterson, the first citizen journalist embedded in the U.S. Department of Defense program, spent 15 months with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) to capture the soldier's perspective.
The film was released in January 2019 after a decade-long production and distribution struggle, during which it was only privately screened. It documents the mission led by COL Ian Hope to attack Taliban sanctuaries in Kandahar and Helmand provinces, emphasizing the warrior culture values of conviction, righteousness, and ruthlessness. "
