Taiwan Detains 2 Drone Executives Over Chinese-Made Chips in Military Contracts

Taiwanese prosecutors have accused drone supplier Jiin Ming Industry Co. and its subsidiary of installing prohibited Chinese-made chips and camera lenses in drones supplied to Taiwan’s military, then submitting false certificates of origin during inspections, according to an Oct. 12 statement from the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office.
The case led to the detention of Jiin Ming Vice Chairman and General Manager Chien Hao-ting and Sales Director Chen Yang-cheng.
Both men are suspected of national security violations, document-related offenses and aggravated fraud, Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) reported.
Searches and alleged contract violations
Investigators executed court-authorized searches at six locations on Oct. 8, including Jiin Ming, its subsidiary, a supplier and residences linked to the case.
They questioned Chien, Chen, seven employees and one witness and seized materials relevant to the investigation, according to the prosecutors’ account.
Prosecutors alleged that the companies violated requirements barring components originating in China from the military contracts. They said the two executives knowingly supplied prohibited parts and used inaccurate business records and origin certificates.
The suspected offenses include provisions of Taiwan’s National Security Act and Criminal Code concerning false business documents and aggravated fraud involving three or more people.
The investigation was assigned to national security prosecutor Lin Yi-wei under the direction of Taoyuan chief prosecutor Chang Chun-hui.
After overnight questioning, prosecutors arrested Chien and Chen at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 9 and sought detention without visitation. The court approved the requests; the other suspects were released.
Court cites risks of collusion and repeat offenses
In its detention ruling, the Taoyuan District Court said Chien acknowledged the conduct described in prosecutors’ detention application after initially denying it.
The court cited discrepancies between his account and witness testimony, the possibility of additional accomplices and the case’s national security implications, according to CNA’s report on the decision.
Chen denied the alleged offenses, but the court found substantial grounds for suspicion and noted inconsistencies in his statements.
Judges also cited risks that the two men could coordinate accounts with other witnesses or commit similar offenses again. Both were ordered held for two months beginning Oct. 9, with visits and outside communication prohibited.
Each may appeal within 10 days of receiving the ruling.
In a public company disclosure, Jiin Ming said Chairman Tsai Hsiang-feng had temporarily assumed Chien’s management duties and that its operations were continuing.
The company said defense-related drone orders accounted for about 1.1 percent of its overall revenue through September, and it did not expect a material effect on its financial position. It said it would cooperate with investigators.
The Jiin Ming investigation follows another case involving military drones and allegedly misrepresented Chinese components. In August, prosecutors in southern Taiwan investigated Hang Jian Technology, which won a 2025 procurement contract for the army’s 8th Corps.
Investigators alleged that Chinese-packaged chips, Chinese-made flight-control boards and other components were used despite origin restrictions, with markings concealed and false certificates submitted, according to CNA’s Aug. 18 report.
The 8th Corps said it identified suspected Chinese-made components during its acceptance inspection, withheld payment and referred the case to prosecutors. The contractor’s head was detained, while another company official was released, according to the Taipei Times.
Both investigations underscore the difficulty of verifying component origins as Taiwan seeks to expand military drone production while excluding prohibited Chinese suppliers from defense procurement. The allegations remain under investigation.

73 killed in drone attacks on Abyei joint market

At least 73 people have been killed and 19 wounded in drone attacks carried out by the Sudanese army on Amiet Common Market in the disputed Abyei region on Monday morning, local officials said.
“At around 11:30 a.m. today, Monday, we were surprised by bombing and thick smoke inside Amiet Common Market, which is located 10 kilometres from Abyei town,” Yohana Akol Ngor, Abyei’s information minister, told Radio Tamazuj.
The attacks targeted the centre and southern parts of the market, as well as its northern gate, causing heavy casualties and extensive damage, he said.
Ngor said the injured had been taken to Abyei Hospital for treatment, with some in critical condition. He accused the Sudanese Armed Forces of carrying out the drone attacks on the market.
The minister said some of the bodies recovered had been burned beyond recognition. He added that the search for bodies had been suspended because of heavy smoke and warned that the death toll could rise.
“What we can confirm now is 73 people, but the number could be higher because people are working to extinguish the fire,” he said.
Asked about the identities of those killed and whether they were from South Sudan or Sudan, Ngor said the victims were civilians from both countries, most of them traders.
He said the attacks had targeted the area of the market where fuel was sold. Although the fire had been extinguished, heavy smoke continued to hamper operations, he added.
Meanwhile, Bulabek Deng Kuol, the paramount chief of the Ngok Dinka community, confirmed that the drone attack had caused heavy casualties. He said the attack began at around 11:30 a.m. and that approximately 12 drone strikes had hit Amiet Common Market.
Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) used the joint market to obtain fuel for their troops in war zones. The sources said the market was used to supply the RSF and its allies with fuel.
The attacks have caused fear and panic among residents in Abyei. Videos reviewed by Radio Tamazuj show civilians fleeing the market following the drone strikes.
Suleiman Al-Siddig, a Sudanese trader at the market, told Radio Tamazuj that efforts were underway to establish the total death toll. He said those confirmed killed included Sudanese and South Sudanese nationals, as well as four Somalis.
RSF officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Amiet Market, located in Ameth-Aguok County, is a major trading centre serving the Ngok Dinka and Misseriya communities. It also serves people displaced by the war in Sudan.
Abyei is disputed between South Sudan and Sudan.
The dispute involves the interests of the Misseriya, predominantly Arab pastoralists who traditionally move through Abyei with their cattle, and the Ngok Dinka, the region’s principal resident community, which is largely aligned with South Sudan.
Disagreements over whether members of the Misseriya community should be eligible to vote in a referendum on Abyei’s future have been a major obstacle to resolving the dispute.
Abyei, an oil-producing region, has remained a source of tension since South Sudan gained independence in 2011.
The 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement provided for a referendum in which Abyei’s residents would decide whether the region should remain part of Sudan or join what became South Sudan.
The vote has never taken place because the parties failed to agree on voter eligibility and other outstanding issues.
Agreements signed in 2011 established interim administrative and security arrangements for Abyei, but its final status remains unresolved.

Taliban Builds Second Drone Operations Centre in Badakhshan

Sources say the Taliban has opened a second drone operations centre near the governor’s office in Badakhshan amid rising insecurity and repeated attacks on Taliban facilities in the province.
According to the sources, the Taliban plans to establish additional drone operations centres across Badakhshan.
Local sources in Badakhshan told Afghanistan International that the second centre had recently begun operating on Kala Minar hill, around two months after the Taliban established its first drone operations centre beside Badakhshan airport and installed a control tower there.
Afghanistan International first published images and details of the control tower at the Taliban’s first drone management centre in Badakhshan in mid-September.
The main purpose of the new centre is said to be protecting the governor’s office and Taliban institutions in the old city of Faizabad, the provincial capital.
Taliban offices, including the governor’s compound, have repeatedly been targeted in recent months by anti-Taliban fronts, with some attacks causing casualties.
A Taliban source told Afghanistan International that the new centre had begun operating to reduce threats against the governor’s office and that additional sites would soon be established in vulnerable areas.
The source said it had been difficult to cover all vulnerable areas simultaneously from the main site, prompting plans for additional centres.
The source, a member of the Taliban’s 219 Omar-e-Sales Division in Badakhshan, said personnel and equipment at the drone management centre beside the airport had recently been strengthened and that drone operations facilities would also be expanded.
Another source confirmed the establishment of the Taliban’s second drone operations centre in Faizabad and said the group’s security concerns were increasing by the day.
The source added that the Taliban was placing particular emphasis on investment in drone warfare capabilities.
On Saturday, 10 October, the Taliban also issued a notice telling residents of Badakhshan that its drones would be flown by the Ministry of Urban Development for topographical surveys and urban planning, and that residents should not be concerned.
However, local sources said that in the days after the notice was issued, groups of drones were seen flying outside Faizabad along the road towards Baharak district, near the area where the new drone centre has now reportedly been established.
According to the sources, the people operating the drones were wearing military uniforms.
Local sources in Badakhshan say that, contrary to the Taliban’s official statement, the purpose of the drone flights and aerial filming over Faizabad is military and security-related.

Attacks on the Taliban Governor’s Office
Several security incidents took place in Faizabad in August this year.
Anti-Taliban resistance fronts claimed responsibility for several attacks on the Taliban governor’s office and nearby checkpoints.
The Taliban-appointed mayor was also killed in an explosive attack claimed by the National Resistance Front.
Following these incidents and the establishment of the drone operations centre in Faizabad, Taliban drones have continuously flown over the city, conducting patrols and aerial surveillance.
Residents of the old city of Faizabad who live around the governor’s office have complained about strict Taliban security measures.
They say Taliban drones fly at very low altitudes over their homes and film residential courtyards, making it difficult for women to leave their homes or carry out daily activities in their yards during the day.
Residents also raised these concerns during a meeting with the Taliban governor, but said their complaints had so far produced no results.
Fighting Intensifies in Badakhshan
In recent months, Taliban forces have repeatedly engaged in direct clashes with Afghanistan Freedom Front fighters in Zebak district.
The front also claims that its forces are present in parts of the district.
In recent days, a video was released showing dozens of Afghanistan Freedom Front fighters in parts of Zebak.
In addition, armed groups opposed to the Taliban have been carrying out guerrilla-style operations against the group.
Sources say these forces have an active and widespread presence in Yaftal, Argo, Ragh districts, Darwaz districts, Faizabad city, Kishm, Tagab, Baharak and other parts of Badakhshan.
Four Explosions in Two Weeks
Four explosions have occurred in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan, in less than 20 days.
According to sources, senior Taliban security and intelligence officials and other high-ranking members of the group were among the intended targets.
The first explosion occurred on 28 September in the Jalghar area.
The second took place on 29 September in Dasht-e Wakilabad, near the university and within the jurisdiction of the city’s second security district.
A third explosion occurred on 5 October, followed by a fourth on 7 October near the Taliban police headquarters.
Several explosions also took place in the city the previous month, two of which targeted religious and jihadist schools.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front, the National Resistance Front and Amrullah Saleh’s Green Unit have claimed responsibility for the explosions.
The repeated blasts and worsening insecurity in Faizabad have increased Taliban security concerns. At the same time, the Taliban has carried out widespread arrests in the city.

South Idaho Couple Captures Circular UFO With ‘Tail’

A new video has surfaced that was shot by a South Idaho couple in their yard on a clear day, which appears to show an unidentified flying object (unidentified anomalous phenomena or 'UAP' nowadays) with an unusual shape and displaying uncharacteristic maneuvers.
The video describes the object as being at an elevation of roughly 500 feet, blinking, and displaying something resembling a 'tail.' Idaho Falls is 50 miles northeast of Pocatello. Multiple reports of UAPs have come to light in recent weeks in the southeastern portion of Idaho.
During the video, you can hear the couple discussing what the object could be as it drifts behind trees and seems to accelerate out of view. According to the witnesses, the object also had a reflective surface.
Idaho Couple Film Oddly-Shaped UFO
The witnesses' depiction of the UAP is also reminiscent of a September 2025 object that was recorded by another Southern Idaho witness. It too drifted in a similar manner, appeared to have a tail, and was reflective. The 2025 footage was shot in Downey, 90 miles south of Idaho Falls.
Based in Washington State, the National UFO Reporting Center is the nation's leading UAP research and investigations body and has published reports on 20 sightings in the Gem State dating back to January 1, 2026. The agency also recently investigated a sighting over St. Anthony, Idaho.
The most recent report from NUFORC was published on October 3 and took place in Jenkins Will, 54 miles north of Idaho Falls.

Is There Really a UFO Flying Around in This Classic John Wayne Movie?

In the background of one scene from ‘Rio Grande,’ something appears to be shooting across the sky just behind Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.
John Ford’s classic 1950 Western Rio Grande stars John Wayne as Lieutenant Colonel Kirby Yorke, whose regiment is tasked with defending settlers in Texas from Apaches during the late 1800s.
Kirby is in charge of training new recruits and soon learns that his son, Jefferson, whom he hasn’t seen in more than a decade, has enlisted as a private in the Army.
Kirby informs the teenage boy (played by Claude Jarman Jr.) that he won’t be getting any special treatment and proceeds to whip him into shape.
However, before long, Kirby’s estranged wife, Kathleen (Maureen O’Hara), shows up to take their son home.
A little over an hour into the film, Kirby tells his wife that he’s decided not to bring Jefferson along with him in pursuit of the Apaches in Mexico.
Though Rio Grande remains beloved for a great many reasons, this scene in particular has attracted considerable attention in recent years—and not for anything that was intended by the cast or crew.
If you keep your eye on the top left-hand part of the screen as Kirby’s breaking the news to Kathleen, you’ll see what looks like a UFO shooting across the sky in the background. Check out the clip for yourself below.
Did John Ford Accidentally Capture a UFO in His 1950 Western ‘Rio Grande’?
Naturally, this discovery has sparked an ongoing debate regarding what’s actually happening in that footage.
While several sources claim that Rio Grande was filmed entirely on location in Monument Valley, some parts of the movie were said to have been shot at Republic Studios in Los Angeles.
The zoomed-in portions of the video above make it appear as though the sequence in question was recorded on a soundstage. So, for that to be an alien craft flying around behind John Wayne, keep in mind that it would have to be a pretty tiny one.
Is that enough to rule out the possibility of a UFO in everyone’s mind? Of course not, but the fact that neither of the actors in the scene noticed or reacted to what was going on reveals how insignificant it was.
After all, even a really small craft would make a noise if it was right next to you, no? The more likely explanation is that Ford captured light reflecting off of the backdrop, and probably just didn’t realize it—or care enough about it to bother reshooting the sequence.

Giant UFO Emerges From the Sun as Cube Appears

A staggering cosmic anomaly captured in solar observations has ignited intense debate among anomaly researchers and space enthusiasts worldwide.
Prominent UFO researcher Scott Waring brought attention to raw footage showing a massive planet-sized entity departing from our star. Moments after emerging from the solar surface, a mysterious geometric cube flashed directly in front of the craft.
The gargantuan structure features an undeniable ring-like outline surrounding its dark core as it moves through space.
What truly baffles analysts is the sudden appearance of the geometric cube. The strange shape materializes out of nowhere, lingers momentarily, and then vanishes instantly into the dark vacuum.
Waring discussed the unusual images in a video published on October 17 and in a follow-up article on UFO Sightings Daily.
He believes the footage could show an enormous unidentified spacecraft leaving the Sun. He even suggests that the object could be a planet-sized alien craft capable of cloaking itself.
While examining the footage, Waring draws attention to what appears to be a huge object surrounded by a distinctive ring-like structure. He moves through the images to highlight the moment when a cube-shaped feature suddenly becomes visible in front of it. The feature then appears to vanish.
His explanation goes far beyond the images themselves. Waring proposes that advanced alien craft could use the Sun as a source of energy. He also speculates that enormous protected structures might exist inside the star, allowing hypothetical spacecraft to operate there before travelling back into space.

The researcher connects his theory to Planet X and Nibiru, names associated with claims about a mysterious, undiscovered world. However, the video does not establish a connection between the solar object and either of these hypothetical bodies.
The apparent object and the fleeting cube are intriguing visual features, but their appearance alone cannot establish their true nature. Solar imaging can produce unusual shapes through instrument effects, image processing and other observational artifacts.
Still, the footage raises a question that viewers may find difficult to ignore: what exactly are they seeing in these images? Until the original observations can be independently examined, the identity of the object and the brief cube-like feature remains unresolved.
Is this extraordinary visual event merely a digital glitch created by raw satellite data transmission? Or did space cameras capture a rare glimpse of an unknown intelligence moving through our solar system?
