Tacoma speed cameras recorded 400,000 speeding violations in 4 weeks. Only a fraction will be ticketed

The cameras began issuing $145 citations Oct. 14, but instead of ticketing every qualifying driver, Tacoma is limiting enforcement to 100 citations per camera each day.

The city says processing and mailing the hundreds of thousands of potential citations would overwhelm the system, explained Eric Huseby, assistant division manager for Tacoma Public Works.
