Having grown up in high technology careers, there is something I learned… technology will never save man from himself… no matter how advanced it is. Until a human heart (mind, will, emotions, etc.) is changed by Love, entropy tends toward self-destruction. Multiply that by several billion, and you start to see why we are in the mess we are in. It all goes back to individual human hearts. Argue the point if you will, but simple logic proves it.
