Caraway is Dallas city, not schools. They are under different leadership.

Also, inner city Dallas has been a cesspool for years, including governmental bodies. If Caraway is tried by a jury of his peers, he'll walk.

The point is that it would be absurd to shut down schools. What is needed (and is much harder) is to take them over. Only dedicated parents and citizens can do that, but many are willing to just warehouse their kids. Even good kids can't learn when surrounded by rabble and unionized educators.

I'm all for parents teaching their kids, public school or no. The trouble is that many won't – and we end up with massive ignorance. Look around you.

Are public schools doing a good job? Some are. Many aren't. My take, based on years of experience, is that parents are the key, schools or no schools.

I am highly literate and public school educated. So are my adult children and now their children. Schools and teachers are just a tool, but a valuable one when public pressure demands it.
