Bypass pruning shears. Not bolt cutters-- not hose cutters -- pruning shears for green limbs up to about 3/4" diameter (actually designed for up to 1/2" but can be made to work for a little larger.)
If you guys are going to get side-tracked, at least get it right.
The only way photos of a 2015 burglary belong here is if they set something up that is happening in the present.
