Israel’s approach has been systematic. First it crossed off Iraqi military scientists, then it moved onto Iranian nuclear scientists. Now, the Hebrew State has sponsored the elimination of General Aziz Asber, one of Syria’s leading military scientists.
Doctor Asber (see photo) was the Deputy Director of Station 4 of the Syrian Centre for Research and Scientific Studies. He was an expert in rockets and missiles. According to the Syrian newspaper, Al-Watan, both General Asber and his bodyguard were killed when their vehicle blew up on 4 August 2018. We do not know for sure if the vehicle had been planted with a bomb or if it had been destroyed by a drone attack.

Syria: Some of Assad’s guards secretly arrested
The Syrian regime’s intelligence service has arrested a number of officers assigned to guard President Bashar Al-Assad and his presidential motorcade, and moved others to various locations, the independent Syrian news website Human Voice reported.
A security source inside the Syrian intelligence said that Assad’s special intelligence service has transferred ten of the high-ranking officers assigned to guard the presidential convoy to different areas.
Four officers from among the presidential convoy guards have been arrested, the source added, noting that the operation took place in a matter of hours and without any prior knowledge by Al-Assad’s guards.
The reasons behind the transfer of officers and the arrest of others are not known so far, but Human Voice cites speculation of differences between Syrian security agencies and fears of assassinations of prominent figures.
Another source told Human Voice that the operation was aimed at getting rid of any Iranian infiltration so as to avoid any adverse developments.

FBI Ignored Intel Pinpointing Disabled Toddler’s Location in U.S. Radical Islamic Compound; Abducted Boy Died After FBI Blew Off Tips
The New Mexico authorities have announced heart-breaking news: The remains of a boy have been found at the Islamist compound that was raided on Friday.
It is almost certainly the body of disabled toddler Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj, who has been missing for nine months after being abducted by his father, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, and brought to the compound with 11 other malnourished children.
The day the remains were found would have been his fourth birthday.
The pain one experiences from reading the story is increased exponentially by a reality that is difficult to accept: The boy might have been saved if the FBI had acted, instead of stalling until the New Mexico police finally went in on their own.
By early May, the FBI had strong evidence the fugitive believed to have the missing boy in custody was at the New Mexico compound. The legal owners of at least part of the land that the property was on had given permission for a search, making a “probable cause” standard for a search warrant unnecessary.
The FBI also knew this compound was inhabited by Islamist extremists and they were probably acquiring weapons. Our sources say there are indications they engaged in identity fraud and, most likely, other forms of fraud.
The FBI did not act decisively, even as the compound prepared for war and the children were in peril, especially the missing boy who was almost certainly there and whom the FBI knew was in desperate need of medication.
Yet instead of searching the property themselves, what did the FBI do?
They asked the neighbor, Jason Badger, to wear a hidden camera and risk his life by approaching an armed, Islamic extremist compound.
The FBI placed the compound under surveillance for at least two months before the raid, hoping to get a positive identification of the boy’s presence there—even though the extremists at the compound knew identification had to be prevented and had taken visible measures to make sure it didn’t happen.
The Badgers didn’t like the idea of having Islamist extremist neighbors who illegally squatted on their property. They filed a petition to have them evicted.
Their request for eviction—a very brazen move on the part of the Badgers—was rejected by a judge in June.
During an August 7 news conference, a reporter asked why that wasn’t enough for the authorities to go in. The police spokesperson said it was a civil matter and not grounds for a search warrant. The extremists and starving children got to stay.
The trigger for the raid was when the New Mexico police were provided a message by the authorities in Georgia.
A message had come out of the compound. It said the children were starving and they needed food and water.
The New Mexico authorities decided to go in on their own search warrant.

NEW YORK/GENEVA, 24 June 2017 – “The rapidly spreading cholera outbreak in Yemen has exceeded 200,000 suspected cases, increasing at an average of 5,000 a day. We are now facing the worst cholera outbreak in the world.
“In just two months, cholera has spread to almost every governorate of this war-torn country. Already more than 1,300 people have died – one quarter of them children – and the death toll is expected to rise.
“UNICEF, WHO and our partners are racing to stop the acceleration of this deadly outbreak. We are working around the clock to detect and track the spread of disease and to reach people with clean water, adequate sanitation and medical treatment. Rapid response teams are going house-to-house to reach families with information about how to protect themselves by cleaning and storing drinking water.
“UNICEF and WHO are taking all measures to scale up prevention and treatment interventions. We call on authorities in Yemen to strengthen their internal efforts to stop the outbreak from spreading further.
“This deadly cholera outbreak is the direct consequence of two years of heavy conflict. Collapsing health, water and sanitation systems have cut off 14.5 million people from regular access to clean water and sanitation, increasing the ability of the disease to spread. Rising rates of malnutrition have weakened children’s health and made them more vulnerable to disease. An estimated 30,000 dedicated local health workers who play the largest role in ending this outbreak have not been paid their salaries for nearly 10 months.

Virginia declares state of emergency ahead of anniversary of violent Charlottesville rally
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and the city of Charlottesville declared states of emergency as the anniversary of last year’s violent Unite the Right rally approaches this weekend.
The declarations were made to address the “potential impacts” of events in and around Charlottesville and in Washington, D.C., Aug. 10-12, according to an announcement from the city.
The events mark the anniversary of the violent 2017 rally that led to the deaths of three people including two law enforcement officers. Those killed were 32-year-old Heather Heyer, Virginia State Police Trooper Lt. H. Jay Cullen, III, and Trooper-Pilot Berke M.M. Bates.
Heyer was killed when James Alex Fields Jr. allegedly drove his car into a crowd of protesters. The two officers died in a helicopter crash while assisting in the response to the protests.

Facebook teams up with NATO to censor news
A new Reuters report confirms that social media censorship is taking a chilling geopolitical effect, as Facebook has been revealed as a top donor to the Atlantic Council, alongside Western governments, Gulf autocratic regimes, NATO, various branches of the US military, and a number of major defense contractors and corporations.
In May Facebook announced that it was outsourcing much of its political “fact-checking” to the Atlantic Council, the PR arm of NATO, and more specifically, four individuals within the Atlantic Council will form a “Digital Forensic Lab (DFR Lab)” so as to help the billion dollar tech giant spot those pesky Russian election meddling trolls…because God knows, Facebook simply does not have the money or know-how to hire its own team of “fact checkers”, something that a publisher platform of Facebook’s size would naturally do in house as it formulates its editorial position.

Court: EPA violated law on harmful pesticide, orders ban
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that the Trump administration endangered public health by keeping the widely used pesticide chlorpyrifos (clor-PEER-i-fos) on the market despite extensive scientific evidence that even tiny levels of exposure can harm babies' brains.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to remove chlorpyrifos from sale in the United States within 60 days.
A coalition of farmworkers and environmental groups sued last year after then-EPA chief Scott Pruitt reversed an Obama-era effort to ban chlorpyrifos, which is widely sprayed on citrus fruits, apples and other crops. The attorneys general for several states joined the case against EPA, including California, New York and Massachusetts.
In a split decision, the court said Thursday that Pruitt, a Republican forced to resign earlier this summer amid ethics scandals, violated federal law by ignoring the conclusions of agency scientists that chlorpyrifos is harmful.
"The panel held that there was no justification for the EPA's decision in its 2017 order to maintain a tolerance for chlorpyrifos in the face of scientific evidence that its residue on food causes neurodevelopmental damage to children," Appeals Court Judge Jed S. Rakoff wrote in the majority's opinion.
EPA spokesman Michael Abboud said the agency was reviewing the decision. It could appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
Environmental groups and public health advocates hailed the court's action as a major victory.
"Some things are too sacred to play politics with, and our kids top the list," said Erik Olson, senior director of health and food at the Natural Resources Defense Council. "The court has made it clear that children's health must come before powerful polluters. This is a victory for parents everywhere who want to feed their kids fruits and veggies without fear it's harming their brains or poisoning communities."
Chlorpyrifos was created by Dow Chemical Co. in the 1960s. It remains among the most widely used agricultural pesticides in the United States, with the chemical giant selling about 5 million pounds domestically each year through its subsidiary Dow AgroSciences.
Dow did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. In past statements, the company has contended the chemical helps American farmers feed the world "with full respect for human health and the environment."
Chlorpyrifos belongs to a family of organophosphate pesticides that are chemically similar to a chemical warfare agent developed by Nazi Germany before World War II.
As a result of its wide use as a pesticide over the past four decades, traces of chlorpyrifos are commonly found in sources of drinking water. A 2012 study at the University of California at Berkeley found that 87 percent of umbilical-cord blood samples tested from newborn babies contained detectable levels of the pesticide.
Under pressure from federal regulators, Dow voluntarily withdrew chlorpyrifos for use as a home insecticide in 2000. EPA also placed "no-spray" buffer zones around sensitive sites, such as schools, in 2012.
In October 2015, the Obama administration proposed banning the pesticide's use on food. Pruitt reversed that effort in March 2017, adopting Dow's position that the science showing chlorpyrifos is harmful was inconclusive and flawed.

Mueller team files complaint against Manafort trial judge over latest reprimand
After days of being dressed down by the judge overseeing the Paul Manafort case, federal prosecutors sought Thursday to put their foot down – filing a motion complaining that Judge T.S. Ellis III had unfairly admonished them in front of the jury.
Ellis has memorably and repeatedly criticized Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team during the trial for the former Trump campaign chairman. On Wednesday, Ellis ripped into prosecutors for letting a witness, IRS Agent Michael Welsh, sit in the courtroom before his testimony.
But in a five-page motion filed Thursday, Mueller deputy Andrew Weissmann and other attorneys on the team claimed Ellis had actually granted permission earlier in the trial for the witness to remain in the room during proceedings.
“The court’s reprimand of government counsel suggested to the jury—incorrectly—that the government had acted improperly and in contravention of court rules,” the prosecutors wrote. “This prejudice should be cured.”
Ellis responded by expressing regret in court Thursday.
“This robe doesn’t make me anything other than human,” Ellis said.
Referencing his earlier reprimand, Ellis said Thursday: “Any criticism of counsel should be put aside.”
The truce between the judge and prosecutors, though, did not last long.
Hours later, when prosecutors tried to introduce an exhibit that was dozens of pages long, Ellis interjected: "There might be some kind soul on the jury who thinks they need to leaf through all this stuff – and it isn't true."
The Mueller team relented and only entered 11 pages into evidence.
Ellis has a reputation for making colorful comments – and being tough on the prosecution.
On Wednesday, Ellis explained that he would not ask the defense to reveal as much information as he has demanded from the prosecution because “it’s sort of like poker – you don’t have to show your hand until you’re called.”
“Something like that, I’m not a poker player,” Ellis said.
