‘They think of voters as sheep’ - former Cabinet Minister makes SHOCKING Brexit claim
FORMER Cabinet Minister and leading Brexiteer Priti Patel has accused the Government of treating the UK public like “sheep” and frightening them into accepting Theresa May’s ‘soft’ Brexit deal.
In a powerful article in The Sun, Ms Patel, the former Secretary of State for International Development, attacked the Government’s proposed Brexit deal.
She claimed that Mrs May’s proposed Brexit White Paper crosses “red lines” and urged the Government to “chuck Chequers”.
Controversially, she claimed: “This latest version of Project Fear speaks volumes about what the Government thinks of voters.
“Sheep to frighten into the right pen.
“But sheep we are not.
“To frighten us into submission we are spoon fed a daily diet of tales of food shortages, soldiers on the streets and tailbacks from Dover to Land’s End.”
Ms Patel claimed her views are widely shared across the country.
She said: “I’ve spent the last few weeks meeting party activists, businesses and the public, supporters of Leave and Remain from across the country.
“The view is that Chequers will not give us our economic and political freedom.
“There can be no halfway house, where Britain continues to be out of Europe in name but is still run by Europe.
