Don't get too hung up on semantics
with the word 'invest' or 'investment'
in relationship to charities/not-for-profits.
Yes, it could have a double meaning;
however, 'invest/investment' are
the buzz words of today in this field.
The model is moving away from a
'funding' mentality to an
'investment' mentality.
Donors like to see how their 'investment' has
improved the community.
Ergo:
Dear Mr & Mrs. John Doe,
Thank you for your investment of $1,000 to
your community. With your investment
x number of children received tutors
x number of children received lunch
etc.
