Army mainly pilot training out of Fort Rucker. There's always a lot of military chopper & small aircraft activity around the Alabama Florida & Georgia border area.

There is also a lot of military/navy bases in the Florida panhandle that add to the congestion.

Airliners don't have keys. Most normies wouldn't be able to figure out what switches & buttons to hit to get it started up.

Many people working on the ground at airports have some experience of flying in & controlling light aircraft or playing around in the flight simulators, cadging flights during maintenance flight tests etc. It is one of the perks of the job.

You probably don't realise that many airline co-pilots have their first real flight on a plane full of paying passengers.

Nearly all training is done on simulators.

Even desktop simulators can give very realistic training.

So I am not surprised.
