I would have told you I was an athiest ten years ago, or even five years ago. My disposition is anti-authoritarian and I have no need for rites and rituals. Once I realized that mysticism requires neither of those and that most people don't understand their own religions (they're mostly metaphors), atheism ceased to make any sense to me.
