Ketron Island
At one time apparently there was quite a swank marina and club house in operation on the island including a swimming pool. However a mud slide took out much of the building and only a skeleton of its former self stands.
Recently the island was making the news as a developer who advertised that he wanted to put a golf course on the island made off with the investors money and the entire island and legal ownership of the property was disputed in court.
Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction. – Erich Fromm
Now the residence are busy placing no trespassing signs along the waterfront trying to claim ownership of the tide lands which I’ve noticed are miss-leading and often placed on public DNR land which of course is open to the public. For a short time Washington State did sell rights to tide lands, and about 75% of the islands tidelands are marked as private, however a search through the records show that the ownership is in question so whoever is placing the signs is guilty of trespassing just as anyone else.
Still, if you’re going to make a stop on the island please, as always be of the land and leave no trace of your stop.
