Wow. Johnson gave Russell the "treatment" to get him to serve. Russell didn't like Earl Warren. And in the end, Russell was a critic of the commission's conclusion that Oswald acted alone.
Makes me wonder about his "natural" death in 1971.
I just did some reading on Senator Richard Russell.
He was the first public dissenter in the Warren Commission. He was very vocal about it during hearings and right after the Warren report came out. and was speaking with people in 1970 who were trying to write about and revisit the Kennedy assassination. He died of lung cancer in January 1971.
