That comes from a tradition that is in deep disharmony with the Awakened One's actual teachings, they try to present confusion as wisdom.
The Buddha ( = Awakened One ) is said to have transcended birth and death through the complete purification of the mind. That is the goal of the Teachings, to transcend the cycle of pain, misery and death through purity and the full comprehension of atemporal Truth.
