I dunno. The whole Omarosa thing just feeds the perception Trump is bad at personnel.
Doesn't help when she emerges like a triumphant hero with illegally obtained recordings and all Trump can do is complain on Twitter.
You could be right that this is all a ploy, but it does not look like a ploy. It just looks like another bad hiring episode - from the outside observer perspective at least. I.e. Trump is good at some things, but not at management. (But that probably applies to a lot of American politicans)
