Neither Q400 nor 757 are meant to fly or do tight turns full speed at sea level. A missile does not have to be a rocket, the Tomahawk cruise missile uses a jet engine.
Tomahaeks are not that fast not maneuverable either. The thing about cruise missiles is they can travel a long distance and navigate without a remote operator. Lets say You want to hit a building you have access to, then have someone place a transponder in the designated hit area and have the missile maneuver as it homes on it. The maneuver of the Q400 are similar to those of the airliner that hit the Pentagon. This was a white hat operation to show off that we know how they did it.
Not selling a theory, I am telling how it could be done right now and 17 years ago. The Q400 event gave many leads to the detriment of black hats.
I do think it was remote controlled. My point is that was a demonstration for our benefit. For an actual attack on a skyscraper using autopilot and a homming beacon would be more prectical. No chance of the controller signal been detected.
