Ok I've been reflecting over this for a while. Basically the state of politics in the USA, and I just wanted to say that I believe now our current state of "Republican" party truly is becoming the party of the people and is more of an 80s libertarian mindset than RIGHT WING.
We have overcome alot of serious issues that the Republicans would not address in times past. Same sex marriage, the LGBT community not feeling cared for, the legalization of marijuana, and other CULTURAL issues that were major reasons why people voted DEMOCRATIC. Or, at least these are the issues why I USED TO.
I remember being taught in school about Cultural Politics and Economic Politics, and generally was too young to understand the Economics part. But, always believed in equality.
At this point. We have evolved to a point where many if not all of these issues are agreed upon even by Conservatives as petty. I truly believe that this is the dawn of a new era, and as Liberalism floats into obscurity as going too far left (Socialism, which the American people do not want), Republicanism is also moving to the left… But, IMO this is for the better. A more Libertarian ideology, a true governmental system for the people.
Don't get me wrong, I think there is more to be done about some of these cultural issues, but we have made a TON of progress with them since W.
If we can continue being Culturally Liberal, yet Fiscally Conservative, this truly would be the America I was promised.
