Trump Campaign Files Charges Seeking Millions Against Omarosa
President Donald Trump’s campaign filed an arbitration charge on Tuesday against Omarosa Manigault Newman after she made numerous derogatory remarks about the president in her upcoming book. The campaign claimed that she broke a nondisclosure agreement that she apparently signed in 2016.
The arbitration, filed in New York, comes after Newman made numerous claims in her book that have already been shot down by other parties involved. The Washington Examiner reports:
According to a sample of the agreement provided to Secrets, she was required to keep proprietary information about the president, his companies or his family confidential and to never “disparage” the Trump family “during the term of your service and at all times thereafter.”
"Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. has filed an arbitration against Omarosa Manigault-Newman, with the American Arbitration Association in New York City, for breach of her 2016 confidentiality agreement with the Trump Campaign," an official said in a statement to the Examiner. "President Trump is well known for giving people opportunities to advance in their careers and lives over the decades, but wrong is wrong, and a direct violation of an agreement must be addressed and the violator must be held accountable."
The official added that they are seeking "millions of dollars in retaliation," according to the Examiner's description of the official's statement, adding that they may go after any profits she receives from her book.
