I'm not a scholar to be honest. I have heard such things but even if he had mankind would not be locked out of the faith. Jesus is risen, God is not dead and praying to the Lord will bestow wisdom upon you. Bear in mind that some of the Gospel never made the final cut. The Bible is just one pillar of Christianity. Reading it is fine but don't lose sight of the rest.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Christianity's hold on Anglo-Saxons has never been particularly strong. The rest of us meanwhile had to stave off Muslim invasions and Jewish subversion. :)
