Google tracks you through triangulation of your cell service. They have contracts with the service providers that give your device a unique ID and every location is stored in a database (how does maps give traffic conditions?), but if every day at 5pm your ID stops at a specific residence and it there overnight, that location can be (and IS) cross referenced with property records to match a device ID with an individual.
