my take on the Q400
pilot was a white hat op, he played his part. he never died, now back on assignment somewhere else.
plane was flew remotely or by a professional and landed somewhere else safe. OR
if plane was landed somewhere safe, it gave cover story for white hats to take out target with a missile from a fighter or it was remotely flown into target.
Q400 was a reason to deploy fighters and take out a target.
more than likely the Q400 landed safe somewhere and was piloted by a professional.
