Were the comms using Xbox live’s vocal chat system, or were they through the more conventional messages?
Xbox live would be an effective way to communicate, it’s a robust system and very stable.
Ok NOW I get it. It wasn’t the individuals deleting their messages that brought down live, but instead MICROSOFT ITSELF shutting it down to destroy the logs internally.
