Baroness Phillipne De Rothschild used to say she was from the poor branch of the family. When she first came to NYC she didn't know any of the local richies and was too old disco so she hired a PR firm to put her out there for the word to admire.
The PR firmed hired syndicated columnist Cindy Adams and her husband, gossip columnist Earl Wilson, to throw a paid party in her honor. Included in the 5000 price was a mention in Earl's column.
As I recalled she paid and extra 2 k for guaranteed interaction with the famous and incredibly drunk movie director, Josh Logan.
That's a pretty seedy launch for a Rothschild looking to launch socially in NYC. Her mother was also the only Rothschild to die in a German concentration camp. Which suggests the family really didn't care much about mom. If the Rots wanted her out, she would have been out that day.
The Baroness later went on PBS and was ridiculed by clever Dick Cavett, which an obsqueious toad like Cavett would never do to legit rich person who might conceivably one day do him some good. PdeR might be Alefantis mother and a stone pedovore, but she wasn't the Lafit Rothschild Grand cru, she was the Mouton Cadet. Also: dead
