I found a great essay recently about the Satanist "Ethos" They gain your permission because that is part of their training, philosophy belief system, rather than to avoid karma [which they don't believe in] as some have speculated; according to the writer who I believe is part of their group.

It's because they believe in free will. They don't have morality, as we understand it, compassion, nor fear of God. They believe that they are freely exercising their will, and as long as they have consent, they have done no wrong.
