Where D.C.'s A-listers go for Vacation
John Posesta, Center for American Progress: "I am going to my condo in Truckee [Calif.], like I do every year - will sit on the porch and do conference calls 50 feet from where the Donner Party ate each other."
Must have a place that overlooks Donner pass. A mountain pass in N. Sierra Nevada above Donner Lake. 9 miles west of Truckee, named after a group of California-bound settlers. In early 1846 the Donner Party found the route blocked by snow and was forced to spend the winter on the east side of the mountains. Of the 81 settlers, only 45 survived to reach California, some of them resorting to cannibalism to survive.
What's the chances of a cannibal having a place that overlooks where cannibalism took place?
