IIRC this began about the time that sub with 40 or so sailors on it went missing. I thought it was somehow connected at the time. Just a gut feeling. It also made me think of an NCIS episode were drug cartel bounty hunters were cutting off feet of competing drug dealers were being killed and the feet were being cut off as proof of death, like a scalp or rodent skin.
