I have been an ham over 40 years and you are correct in saying that ham radio is a reflection of our society both good and bad. It gives you the ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and enjoy simple fellowship when interests match. Most of my ham experiences have been positive and would be for others interested in this hobby.
