regarding staying on the ballot -he is the "designated" candidate (a legal term) - there are 3 ways to get off the ballot in New York Under state election law, a candidate can only be removed from a ballot 1) including death, 2) disqualification (usually moving out of state) or 3) accepting an appointment to another public office. That being said, GOP leader in Erie County has said they want him out - if they want to get him off the ballot, they will find a way. Nothing new there, done all the time.
