California Demands Trump, Congress Apologize to Illegal Aliens

California state legislators passed a resolution Thursday calling on Congress to formally apologize, and for President Donald Trump to join them in acknowledging wrongdoing in separating illegal alien family units at the border.

State Senators Kevin de León, Richard Pan, and Scott Wiener authored the joint resolution that was scheduled for debate, and passed on Thursday. KPBS reported just three legislators opposed — Joel Anderson, Mike Morrell, and Jim Nielsen — while 29 approved it, and eight didn’t vote.

The California Senate resolution calls on Congress to specifically apologize to the children separated from the adult foreign nationals who illegally brought them across the U.S. border. It also petitions Congress and President Trump to acknowledge wrongdoing in separating illegal alien adults and children.

The resolution describes the policy of separating foreign nationals who have crossed the border illegally as “detrimental.” De León described the separations as “government-sanctioned kidnapping.”

“They created the problem, they need to fix the problem and make sure there is clear accountability,” de León proclaimed in the California Senate resolution, according to the report. “We should apologize to these children we have permanently harmed,” said Sen. Pan. Pan compared family separation to U.S. WWII internment of Japanese citizens.

The 1997 Flores settlement under President Bill Clinton dictated that children could not be detained more than 20 days. That policy continued to exist under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Due to the pre-existing policy, President Trump’s no tolerance border security policy resulted in separation of illegal alien adults held for crossing the border illegally, from children they brought over with them.

The separation of family units at the border was halted in the wake of public reaction, a judge’s order, and President Trump’s executive order to challenge the 1997 Flores settlement while continuing prosecution of illegal border crossers. The Trump administration began reuniting parents and children that had been separated. Some of the family reunifications took time, in part due to measures taken to verify adults were not given possession of children those adults had crossed the border with, but who did not belong to them.

The California Senate resolution used research from organizations including the American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Pediatrics to make their case, stating the separations can cause children’s brains long-term harm, according to the report.

EXCLUSIVE: Illegal Immigrant Arrested While Driving Wife To Hospital Is Wanted For Murder In Mexico

An illegal alien who was arrested in southern California while taking his pregnant wife to the hospital is wanted for murder in Mexico, immigration authorities said Saturday.

Joel Arrona Lara, 36, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on Wednesday at a gas station in San Bernardino, California. At the time, Arrona was taking his wife, Maria del Carmen Venegas, to the hospital for a scheduled cesarean section, CBS 2 Los Angeles reported.

News of Arrona Lara’s arrest quickly spread nationally, with several media outlets characterizing it as an example of the Trump administration’s heavy-handed crackdown on illegal immigration. Venegas told CBS 2 in Spanish that Arrona Lara had never been stopped by police and didn’t have a criminal record of any kind, including traffic violations. But immigration authorities say Arrona Lara is not just an otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrant. He is also wanted by Mexican authorities for murder.

“Mr. Arrona-Lara was brought to ICE’s attention due to an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Mexico on homicide charges,” ICE spokeswoman Lori Haley told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Security footage from the gas station shows Arrona Lara getting out of his car and being intercepted by ICE officers. A visibly distraught Venegas is then seen using a phone shortly after Arrona Lara is taken away.

Arrona Lara’s lawyer, Emilio Amaya Garcia, accused ICE officers of endangering Venegas and her unborn baby.

“In this case, not only did they put the life of the mother in danger, but also that of the child, who is a citizen of this country,” he told Univision on Thursday.

Arrona Lara has reportedly been living illegally in the U.S. for 12 years. ICE released the following statement about his arrest on Friday:

“Mr. Arrona-Lara, a citizen of Mexico illegally residing in the United States, was taken into custody Wednesday by ICE Fugitive Operations Team officers in San Bernardino, Calif. Mr. Arrona-Lara is currently in ICE custody pending removal proceedings with the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR).”

“ICE continues to focus its enforcement resources on individuals who pose a threat to national security, public safety and border security. ICE conducts targeted immigration enforcement in compliance with federal law and agency policy. However, ICE will no longer exempt classes or categories of removable aliens from potential enforcement. All of those in violation of the immigration laws may be subject to immigration arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the United States.”

WATCH: Twitter CEO Makes Stunning Admission Of Bias During CNN Interview

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admitted during an interview with CNN reporter Brian Stelter that Twitter has a "left-leaning" bias, suggested that they do "shadow ban" people, and said that he has not done enough to implement his own "personal objectives" at Twitter.

The interview, set to air on Sunday, comes as the San Francisco based social media company is coming under intense fire over well-documented allegations of bias against Republicans and conservatives.

"Are we doing something according to political ideology or viewpoints? We are not. Period," Dorsey claimed during the interview, which took place on Friday. "We do not look at content with regards to political viewpoint or ideology. We look at behavior."

But he went on to say that the social media company needs to remove bias from its service.

"I think we need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is left, is more left-leaning," Dorsey continued. "We need to remove all bias from how we act and our policies and our enforcement and our tools."

"I haven't done enough of, like, articulating my own personal objectives with this service and my own personal objectives in the world," Dorsey explained.

Connecticut police announce arrest tied to spate of synthetic pot overdoses

Connecticut authorities revealed Friday that a man was arrested in relation to the investigation of several dozen synthetic pot overdoses that occurred in the state this week.

John Parker, 53, was taken into custody Wednesday and was discovered with more than 30 bags of K2, the synthetic marijuana linked to more than 100 overdoses, police said.

Parker was hit with drug-related charges after authorities found him with the K2, Police Chief Anthony Campbell said.

The area around the New Haven Green near Yale was where many of the overdoses occurred, starting on Wednesday. Multiple people who were affected by the drug identified Parker as someone who'd been dealing it in the area, Campbell said.

Sanctions, Sanctions, Sanctions – The Final Demise Of The Dollar Hegemony?

Sanctions left and sanctions right. Financial mostly, taxes, tariffs, visas, travel bans – confiscation of foreign assets, import and export prohibitions and limitations; and also punishing those who do not respect sanctions dished out by Trump, alias the US of A, against friends of their enemies. The absurdity seems endless and escalating – exponentially, as if there was a deadline to collapse the world. Looks like a last-ditch effort to bring down international trade in favor of — what? – Make America Great Again? – Prepare for US mid-term elections? – Rally the people behind an illusion? – Or what?

'No Collusion Evidence': Manafort's Trial Has Nothing to Do with Russia - Lawyer

US President Donald Trump should be impeached if he pardons former campaign manager Paul Manafort. This is what US Congressman Ted Lieu said in an interview on Thursday. The news comes as Manafort has pleaded not guilty to tax evasion and bank fraud charges based on allegations that he hid income from the US Internal Revenue Service.

Sputnik has discussed this with Daniel Kovalik, lawyer and author of "The Plot to Scapegoat Russia."

Sputnik: What is your take on the statement made by the US congressman? Can Trump face impeachment if he does pardon Manafort?

Daniel Kovalik: Well look, I guess the Congress can try to do whatever it wants, but I don’t see pardoning Paul Manafort would provide any legal basis for an impeachment. The president has almost unlimited pardoning power. I don’t see why this case would be any different than any other.

I mean, you look at the most famous pardon; of course, Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon, that seems even more controversial than this would be. This is all happening in the context of the Russiagate scandal and none of the allegations against Manafort have anything to do with Russia.

Sputnik: What are your thoughts on the progress of this case so far? And what has come out during the trial?

Daniel Kovalik: Yeah, well, I mean it does seem to me that it's probably likely he will be convicted of some improprieties in terms of money laundering and tax evasion.

That would not surprise me at all, again though; it’s very telling to me that this trial, which is probably going to be the biggest trial to come out of the Russiagate scandal, has nothing to do with Russia. This is kind of a sideshow to the extent it involves a third country, it’s the Ukraine.

So yeah, he may be convicted of some crimes, but I think it’s important for people to focus on the fact that whatever crime it is, it won't have anything to do with alleged collusion with Russia.
