The whole Trump against Germany and Nordstream 2 was just a game. It was from Art of the Deal
There is no question that Germany is going to expand gas shipments from Russia. It will happen and it is the sensible thing to do since they are physically close to Russia. That pipeline lands in German territory. Similarly, there is a Black Sea pipeline that will land somewhere, either Turkey or Bulgaria, or now it seems like a bit of both. The landing countries get and economic boost from the pipeline.
All the wailing about Russian gas pipelines was really Ukraine wanting to keep a monopoly and be a chokepoint.
Trump never wanted to seriously supply all of Europe with LNG, just open markes in the far West where there are ports on the Atlantic.
He did that.
