White House rejects Turkey's offer on detained pastor

The White House rejected Turkey's offer to release detained American pastor Andrew Brunson in exchange for the U.S. dropping an investigation into Turkish bank Halkbank, a senior White House official told the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.

Ankara offered to drop terrorism charges against Brunson if the U.S. pulled back the billions of dollars in fines it has brought against Halkbank. The U.S. reportedly declined the offer, setting in motion the possibility of further retaliatory measures against Turkey.

"A real NATO ally wouldn’t have arrested Brunson in the first place,” the source told the Journal.

A statement on behalf of the Charles Blackman Foundation confirmed the artist's passing on Monday morning.

"Charlie passed away as the first morning bird called in song, surrounded by his family and loved ones," the statement read.

The renowned figurative painter had celebrated his 90th birthday just last week. He had been suffering from dementia for many years, and was moved into an aged care facility earlier this year.

In recent years, he was forced to auction a selection of his famous works in order to pay for his care.

"Charles painted our dreams," his son Auguste Blackman told The Australian. "The dream of his life was the dream of all our lives."

Blackman was best known for his 1956 Alice In Wonderland series, inspired by an audiobook version of the Lewis Carroll classic introduced to him by his first wife writer Barbara Patterson, who was blind.

His haunting Schoolgirls, a motif throughout his early work which he described as his "signature tune", was also met with acclaim.

What's up with that Pastor?

Something not adding up.

POTUS' twat comment about "innocent man" activated almonds.

Found this;

‘Rambo’ U.S. priest promised top CIA role – report

U.S. pastor Andrew Brunson, in jail in Turkey on terrorism charges, is a “Rambo priest” and CIA agent who would have got the top job at the agency had an attempted military coup in July 2016 been successful, news channel AHaber reported.

While U.S. President Donald Trump is calling for Brunson’s release, the priest set up a spying network from his church in the western Turkish city of Izmir and new evidence to appear in court will show just how important Brunson was to the CIA, AHaber said.

“Brunson was a very important special intelligence officer,” the news channel said in a special news report.

Trump intervened personally on behalf of Brunson late on Wednesday, calling on Turkey to ensure “an innocent man” is returned to his family. Brunson was arrested and detained shortly after the coup attempt and has been in jail since. He appeared before a Turkish court on Wednesday to plead his innocence but was sent back to jail until his trial resumes
